YES...the light gray is the SMC...and may look like marble with some dark streaks that go though it.

No need to specifically get a Corvette part to practice on. In your area...at a body shop if they have a busted part made out of SMC...that will do just fine also. Even a metal hood...just something so you can practice on.

Sanded plywood would work also so you can get the hang of applying the primer and sanding it down SLICK so you know when you paint it...what your surface SHOULD look like
