Hi R,
Tray is for the rear window storage on 68-72 COUPES.
Odd that they're showing the exterior of a CONVERTBLE which wouldn't have a tray. And, the interior of a COUPE that would.
Any FACTS checking going on?
Regards,
Alan

...found the part number and looked it up only to find that it was originally sold as a gun rack...
Complete BS.

Was a gun rack ever offered at anytime on any GM vehicle? Just curious.

But - but - my 84 had two locking gun boxes behind the seats -- ammo in one -- Glocks in the other -- factory

My car has the factory optioned gun shelf.
It also has the ammo locker and grenade storage below it.
Does any one know if these were only available as the weapons package or were they available separately?

That's different. After the no-Corvette production year in 1983, '84 Corvettes required firearms to guard from Max Max style roaming marauders looking to hoard the new Corvette.

Mine was a "dealer option". (The 2 "OEM Gun Boxes" were modified into a single box to hold an AR-15). Pretty sure it came with the Cigarette Lighter Package and 8-Track options. I'll have to check the build sheet for the codes..

I too would like to see this reference 'part number'....

But would you carry a long gun in there? (for illegal deer and jack rabbit.... in your Corvette) or hand guns... at if that is the case how much heat are ya pack'in?
