Default 6 speed trans swap?

So I have a M20 out of a 67 Corvette that I was thinking about putting in my 75 Vette. 463HP/462 TQ/383 with a Th400. I'm currently getting an average of 6 1/2 to 7 MPG and highway driving the RPMS are higher than I would like. I have someone that offered a trade for my M20, for a 6 speed out of a 4th Gen Camaro. Is that a fair trade? Should I ask for his trans and $$$ for my M20? Will that trans work?

If I'm gonna do the work of converting to a manual trans, might as well do a 6 speed. What do you guys think?

What year of Camaro? If it came from a 94-97 it would be an LT1 engine which will bolt up to the old SBC. If it came out of a later 4th gen, it would be an LS motor which would require a different bellhousing and input shaft I believe. That said in any case it will be a T56 which is a good tranny and worth some money. They are hydraulic clutch systems so you would need to take that in to consideration as well as a special flywheel if you have a 2pc rear. The 6 speed would be a lot more work but also a lot nicer to drive.
