Rain
Hi guys, I have question. Do you guys take your c3's to shows in the rain? I bought mine in Dec and tomorrow is first show. Its a all corvette show rain or shine. We are looking at rain all day tomorrow and I was just wondering what the consensus was here. Thanks!

Your choice whether you want to attend. Unless there is a provision for locating the show indoors in the event of rain, seems to me rain would put a damper on the whole shebang.

You'll get both answers here (yes and no). I would personally be the guy who would attend via my daily driver and then talk about the one I have at home in the garage (you know those folks) with the only difference being, I really do.

I don't take the car to shows with a rainy forecast for a couple reasons. First, I've got a little weather stripping project that needs to be completed at some point. Nothing like having a few drips come through the t-top onto your thigh while driving. Second, the shows tend to be a bit leaner when people hear the word rain. Can make the experience a bit lackluster. Having been to plenty of shows in the past makes it easier to turn down going to a rainy show...there's always more shows to attend throughout the spring and summer months.

I will tend to pass on shows when rain is involved, I also don't pay attention from the whines from other people saying "ohhh you don't want to get your car wet' it's not made of sugar" its much more than that:
1. you spend hours the day before detailing and now your whole day
was wasted as soon as you take it out of the garage .
2. Yes my Corvettes LEAK, I don't want to be sitting at a show having
them fill up with water, or filled up before I even get there!
3. Wipers are mediocre at best and defrost fan even worse, yes safety
is involved.
4. "Other" drivers care and attention in bad road/weather conditions
5. And last of all - It's just not fun setting up the chairs and getting soaked

rain at the event is fine but driving in the rain or wet roads/puddles is what I will go to great effort to avoid.. all the dirty splashing that goes up into every little crevice on the underside.. I take pride in how clean my underside is.
a lot of cars are either covered or do not even show up and the numbers are down on rainy days. makes a less joyful event.

There are two Corvette shows scheduled for this general area tomorrow, the Corvettes for Chip show in Media PA, and the Class Glass Corvette Club show in Paramus NJ. Neither show has a rain date, and I'm guessing that they'll both be washed out.
I haven't bothered taking a car to a show in years, but I usually went if it was clear in the morning, with a chance of rain later in the day. But, if it was raining when I got up in the morning, I'd usually blow off a show.
I assume you were planning on going to the Chip Miller Charity show. Knowing what the traffic can be like on Route 1 in Media, even when the weather is nice, would be enough to convince me to pass on that show in the rain. I understand that because of the weather, the organizers of the Corvettes for Chip show, sent out an email to pre-registered entrants, saying that goody bags and dash plaques would be mailed to anyone who decided not to go.

I never drive the old Vettes in the rain. The newer one may get caught when I go to Carlisle every summer. Just don't enjoy backing a perfectly clean Corvette out of the garage and driving it in the rain.

I am pre-registered for the show you are speaking about at DeSales U. I love the show and the friends I see there but I have spent too many hours working on my car to drive it the 1 hour to the show. AND, what do you do while it rains? Sit in you car??
Nah - PASS!!!
My rule is 30% or less chance of rain - I go, above that I stay home. I have gotten wet once!!
Good luck if you go. It is a very nice show and lots of great people.
