C3 what side exhaust do your run.
I am planning on replacing the side exhaust on a 70 BB. It currently has headers and chrome{rusted}side exhaust with heat covers. I would like to change them out and don't know which would look best on a burgundy coupe. Black or chrome and which inserts do you use. Pictures would be great to see what this type of side exhaust looks on a c3. Also do you run unprotected side exhaust or does it have some sort of heat insulator. thanks

I have had the OBX stainless steel for a couple years now. There is some blueing around the collectors but I don't mind it. The fit was good with no installation problems.

Doug's headers and side pipes with max flow mufflers and stainless steel exhaust shields. I get a lot of compliments on the look and sound. Wish I had wrapped the headers before I put them in. If I ever have them out, I'll definitely do it.

I've had OBX Stainless with Classic Chambered exhaust inserts for a little over 4 years now. I opted for Dean's stainless shields to avoid any accidental burns. Slight discoloration at the collector area that is normal with stainless and the rest looks great. No problems at all.

They are SS headers with Max Flow inserts and cobrastuff heat shields. I needed to trim a little off the rocker panel but you don't notice it unless you really look. Easy to install but I did need to do some clearancing. Not a big deal.

Hooker set up with Dean's heat shields. I am running Sweet Thunder
1 3/4 inserts that best duplicates the mid-year side exhaust.

Jet Hot ceramic coated Hookers with JCL Spiral Baffles with steel shields. Shields are a must for me. I was out of work for two weeks due to a burn.

If you want to stay using headers, I would go with Stahl side exits with Hooker 4" tailpies. Nothing else. On my 69 435 car, I have stock 66 manifolds with shortened GM 67 sidepipes under GM covers.

OBX headers and pipes with classic chambered inserts and shields. I'm not crazy about the shields, but I'm not crazy about 3rd degree burns either! Although i just say the fit and finish of the shields was great...MUCH cheaper than the popular choices.
OBX flange was a little warped and i had to use the extra thick gaskets to get a seal. Still have a little leak on one side, but I'm living with it for now.

They may as well be made in China as my right side header flange was so bowed it needed replacement which was free of charge from the supplier. The left side flange was not perfect either but it made a seal.
