Bowling Green Assembly Plant
Not really c3 related, but I made a stop at the Corvette Museum, and also did the assembly plant tour.
If anybody plans on purchasing a new Corvette, I highly recommend taking this tour. It was very informative, and if you go for a z06, you can assemble your engine yourself for an extra $5k. One of the people giving the tour also worked in the St Louis plant, and was able to answer all of the questions that were asked from my group.
Unfortunately, there are no camera's allowed inside, so i don't have any pictures.

I was on the tour when the first ZR1 C6 was coming down the line. Usually no cameras allowed but that day lots of cameras. Professionals as well as what looked like was family members of someone with personal cameras.

I didn't know about the assembly tour, only the museum.
After I'm fairly sure my newly acquired '77 can go the 200+ miles to get there, and same distance back home, maybe I will give that a look. Another thing I wanted to see while there is Mammoth Cave.

I took the tour in 83, it was great. Looked like a cool place to work. Watching all the new C4s rolling along and passing overhead. Back then I was obsessed with the new Vette, now not so much.

I would love to tour the plant and visit the museum. I hope to some day in the near future.

My wife and I drove my 79 down and spent a weekend in BG for our anniversary. This was about 4 or 5 months before the Museum floor collapsed.
The Museum was great, but I really enjoyed the factory tour the most. I would drive down do the tour in again in a New York minute (I'm in southern Ohio so not really that far).
If you can talk the spouse into this there are plenty of other things like thrift shops, flea markets, etc. in town.

My wife and I did the Museum, Factory tour and Mammoth Cave last summer. All three were well worth it. Lotsa fun seeing folks get their new ride at the Museum, including an 83 year old gentleman getting his new Z06!

when my wife and I participated in the 2010 Hot Rod Power Tour one stop was Bowling Green So of course I took my 81 back to where she was born. It was awesome. I even met a guy (now retired) that worked at the plant when my vete was built.

One of my co-workers ordered his new Z06 with museum delivery! He got a VIP tour, his car was in the museum and cordoned off with his name on it. He and his wife's names on the marquis out front. He picked it up 3 weeks ago! Pretty cool experience.

I purchased all the optional packages when I ordered my ZR1 in 2012. I built the engine in Wixom, then arrived at BG to watch my car being built (and my engine going in), and was the first to start it and drive off the line. A GM photographer took the pictures I got a book of them, and of course a few days later I took Museum delivery and drove it home. An incredible experience start to finish, pricy but never to be repeated and I will probably never sell this car.
