Fellow forum member "glinares" AKA George went out of his way and got me a cap for the rest of the trip!!!
Other issues on the road- hit a pothole so hard in northern Indiana- knocked the rear camber out!!!
Here's the 73 at the NCM - not to shortly after the cave in- notice the pass side camber!!

I love the 73's, so here's my "MISFIT" It satisfies my need for a Fast, Loud, Stinky in your face Old School, Hot Rod, Drag car... and shows pretty well too! Oh forgot about the Great fuel mileage.

My 73 from over the pond.
Working on my 73 for the last year but not done yet, steeroids rack and shark bite rear coil overs to go, you guys have it good no import tax to pay on your parts.

Safety Car
Here's mine^^
I was specifically looking for a '73 because I like the later gen front end with the earlier style steel bumper rear end...
Like many buyers, after several months of searching, I'll pulled the trigger too quickly and the car I purchased was not as good as I had hoped it would be. (and of course, a much nicer one, for similar $$$, came available only a few days after I made the purchase)
After two years and several dollars later, it's a pretty decent car now... in fact, drove it out for breakfast this morning and other than a slight air leakage around the driver's side window, it was almost flawless. Maybe time for new weather stripping.

Your experience sounds a lot like mine.
BTW over the weekend on Mecum Auctions I saw a red '73 L48 auto that looked like a nice car from what could be seen on TV , engine compartment looked pretty correct. It still could have been a pig with lipstick, it went for 11K .
