My car's Bubba was a seamstress
The PO of my 68 convert hit a curb or speed bump and took a 12 inch chunk out of the spare tire tub. Being resourceful, Bubba drilled holes along the cracks of the fracture, put wires thru the holes and twisted the wires, making a series of 50 wire stitches to hold the flap of fiberglass in place. I decided to patch it the right way and bonded fiberglass cloth to the tear in the tub and then painted the inside and put 3M undercoat on the outside. Bubba would be proud.

"I'm thinking maybe a Plastic Surgeon!!! " Except with the large sutures and wires, you would look like Frankenstein when he was done with you. Every one of those twisted wires was sharp as a needle. I poked a couple holes in my fingers working on the repair.

My dad worked aircraft repair in his 20's.....growing up thats how he fixed everything. I had a secondhand plastic sled with his drill and stitch repair. That and epoxy. The man put epoxy on everything.

That's a technique I've only seen used for racing motorcycles. They tend to break fairings when they lean too far, and a motorcycle mechanic I know fixed up his bike using that technique. When done with a good eye for detail, it ends up looking pretty sharp.
