Default The Smug Guy & His C7

My son and I went for a ride to our local Weis market (Grocery) As I parked the old 79 I noticed a C7 a few rows over, parked by itself. So I pointed it out to my little guy and we headed in. An older guy comes walking out, sees us looking at his car and he says one word - "2015"

I say nice car, then nod over towards mine and say "1979, want to trade?"

He flatly said "no thanks" with not even a hint of a smile, almost like he did not understand my sarcasm. Not a big deal, I actually got a kick out of. There have been plenty of old miserable rich guys who have paid respects to the C3 with a thumbs up out there in traffic. I hope Carlisle isn't stuffed up with this type God!

I love Carlisle because there is every year represented. Some nice and some needing lots of love. I find that the majority of people enjoy all the years.

I have a C6 but would love to get a C1. I wave to ALL corvettes. And yes, I don't always get a wave back. The bottom line is you will enjoy yourself.

Bob,

As a first time owner I am still getting the hang of the Vette thing It's a tighter group than I could have imagined

Why was there a need for you to be sarcastic?

If I asked a c7 owner if he wanted to swap for my 69 which I would never ever say because without sarcasm I would never consider trading any c3 for a c7 IF I had to keep and drive the c7,

Here is a c whatever and this driver was all upset when he looked up and saw my 69 on the trailer

When he did some jackass take off my wife asked who put sand in his KY, is he trying to flirt with the truck driver?

Funny , he thinks everybody likes his car but I have felt for years that they haven't made a real corvette since the end of the C3's. I'm not denying the improvements in technology and the new car feel but that's my point , their just new cars . They are in a whole different class now. It's like Harleys and Honda Gold Wings. When I ride a Harley it feels like a motorcycle compared to a Honda which is a very good motorcycle but feels like a scooter. This guy thinks everybody wants his car. If he only knew ! I wouldn't trade him my 72 if I had to keep his car , only if I could sell it.

Hey Bats , It looks like we were typing at the same time and have the same opinion when it comes to trading for a C7. I hope the situation never comes up because I love my 72 but if it does the money would be too tempting. It's all about the money and that doesn't say much for the C7.

There are some C7 owners that are not "Corvette"people. GM is trying to target more first time Corvette buyers with the C7. I have a 2015 (and a 66,68) and I'm old, rich (well more like comfortable) and sometimes miserable but would have enjoyed talking to you about your 79. The guy you met will probably not be at Carlisle.

Spot on my friend! Hey, if some stiff doesn't want to share a laugh about something as trivial as our vehicles, well that's on him.

I love and appreciate all of the different corvette generations and all for different reasons. I have a C5 Z and wouldn't trade it for anything,She's family (lol). I have always loved the C3s and part of the reason it is a generation that I grew up with and in turned drooled over

its not just the c5 c6 and c7 crowd...last time I went to a cruise in , first one in several years , I took my driver quality 72. I walked over to several c3s to look at them.....not one person acknowledged that I was even there , they seemed to be glued to their lawn chairs , being highly critical of several of the cars there....mine included. I got a lot of positive comments about my car from the non vette people. but not a single one of the vette group ever looked at my car up close or said a word to me. It drove home why I have not bothered to attend a cruise in for a while. I love the cars....the TACO's not so much

Agree, took my 68 convertible for a spin after being on jack stands for 6 months. Waved to a C7 driver, he did not wave back, he was on the phone...., LOL's, probably traded in his beamer last month for his C7 and then will get a Nissan in a couple of years. No matter to me, I am the one having fun!! C7's are no doubt technical wonders, but I still do not like the styling.

I take my car to car shows and not corvette shows.. much more diversity and everybody is more friendly. Plus I don't have to look at the 90% c5-6-& 7's that are at the corvette shows. Let them pay the 4000 sales tax, ultra high insurance premiums, and 1000 a month depreciation.. I will keep mine...

As I have shared in other general posts before, I've had vette owners with newer c6 generation cars say gee wish I had yours.
Not gee with I had yours too.
I think after the newness wears off its just another very nice used car.
There's a certain smell and pre flight rush one gets when boarding their C3.
