Wondering what C3 community thinks of C3 Hood on a C2
After reading post on C3 about a customized C1 and comments about it, thought about seeing what C3 owners think about a C2 with a Restomod.
C1 thread.
https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...t-for-fun.html
Seems the wheels were the most disliked feature of car.
Below is Rendering of Build. It too will have 20.0" wheels, but less exposed wheel hoop and tire dia will be 28.6" tall to fill wheel wells.
Can run 26.6" C6/C7 13.5" wide tires. Rear 1/4 will be flared out 2.5" and front fenders 1.5" so wheels will have more exposed hoop.
Hood being used was ripped off at hinges so skin was all that was good an all I needed to make LT1 hood for the C2. Wondering about C3 owners view on that as well as it's look on car.
All comments are welcomed, negative or other wise. Might be worth taking a look at them while car is in early build stage.

I hope this doesn't become a boring and pointless stock vs modded thread,
Stock fans need to get over the fact that modding is popular and getting more so, modders need to clue in that some cats love their cars just the way the factory decided they should be.
Why do you care what others think of your dream build?
Wish you were closer I would beg to pop a mold off the LT-1 scoop,
I was thinking of adding a 67 427 scoop to my 69 so
My opinion?
The bb/ LT-1 scoop is a beautiful scoop and it does happen to look good on many other cars besides 68-72 corvettes.
Your build is gonna upset some people that's a them problem not a you problem in the end the important thing is doing it your way....

I can't speak for the entire C3 community, only my own opinion.
Reading your text, I was pretty sure it wouldn't look good..but, if it turns out like your rendering, I think you'll have a winner.
I like the low sleek profile it has.
I'm one to walk right past stock Corvettes at a show, but stop in my tracks when I come across a custom/modded one.
The important thing is to build it to suit your taste.
Good luck with your build.

Hi P,
It appears there are just enough over-all changes to the mid-year that the LT-! hood looks right at home.
I think it's good!
Regards,
Alan

The rendering looks nice to me. I think in real life the rims (at that size) may look a little too "Tonka toy" for me. I would probably like the proportions of 18" rims better.
But why should you care what I think? Build what you want.

Personal taste, but I don't care for it. I have resto-modded '70 and '63 convertibles, plus a mildly upgraded '66 coupe; so I definitely appreciate improved performance capabilities and enhancement of the cars natural lines. I just don't like what happens when you mix parts from cars that were designed with completely different characters. To me, it looks like it was done just to be provocative and not to actually look better. My $.02.

Kinda like the C3 BB styling on the C2 .....sorta looks good ....maybe it was a que from previous C2 styling ...that made it to C3 cars .....
Well put it this way......the C3 hood looks better on C2 ...than the other way around ....IMO
Build what you like ......not what we think.
P u t ....d a t ...little ....rs.....hood on

I like it. At least thank God it's not another "stinger" scoop. It's different and that really works for me. I have no problem with the wheels either. I enjoy looking at any well done car whether it be stock or modified. I'm not a stock guy though. I'm a modified guy especially if it's improving the performance and handling.
Then again I really like the build you did on the car in you avatar. So I guess it's safe to say I share a lot of your taste in modifications.
Good luck with this build and keep the pictures coming.

I like everything about the rendering.
I would think 20" would look strange on that car, but if the rendering is proportional then I would dig it.
I like the hood on there.

I see nothing wrong with the hood alteration . It's a bolt on item. For that matter I even like the three tail lights on the rendering. I always thought that GM missed the boat by not doing it from the factory. The stock two tail lights looked too plain.

I think the hood actually looks pretty good on that. It fits nicely with the resto mod theme.

I've never much cared for mixing hood designs between generations, but if your car turns out anything like the artist renderings it's going to look spectacular. So I'm voting "YES".
