Stock side mirrors turned up or down ?
I have seen the stock side mirrors turned both up and some turned down to make them look shorter. What is your opinion ? I don't know if it is just what I'm used to but I think they look better turned up even though it does make them look taller.

The mirror part is on a swivel so you can turn the mirrors in the upright position or turn them 180 degrees ( in other words turn them down ) to make them look shorter. I've seen one of the vendors advertising either the short stem mirrors or the tall ( stock ) stem mirrors. Why not just buy the short version instead of turning them down ? Probably looks more natural.

You need them up to be able to see anything over the rear fender. I could swear that only one photo in the 68 sales brochure showed them down and the other photos showed them up. They look silly turned down, if you ask me. I have been driving my 68 coupe since July, 1972, belonged to Corvette Cleveland and everyone would have the mirror up on their C-3s. Lou.

I can understand why someone would twist the door mirror head upside down on an early 68 Corvette. The mirror location was originally right by the windshield pillar and it obstructed your view to the left. GM then moved the outside mirror location back further to eliminate this problem. Lou.

Exactly, Lou.
That's why I run with the mirror head down on my early model '68. IMHO - I think it looks better too.

I think they were all just drivers side in the early years but I added the passenger side anyway for safety. Too much invested to risk it. That's the nice thing about non original cars . You have that option.
