Looks like you have a flat-tappet cam. Did you consider a hydraulic roller setup? I know it's about $1,000 more when you include the springs, retainers, keepers, pushrods, distributor gear and timing cover (with adjustable button) but now would be the time.

Thank you sir, we will discuss this further and see where we go with it.

You may also be devoid of the clutch pivot boss....

Something tells me you're gonna have a lot of fun with this particular car. With that engine and side pipes, one thing is for sure; you won't be sneaking it home late at night. Continued success my friend, enjoy.

I was at David's yesterday. Yes it has a flat tapped cam but I think that was done to keep the cost down. This motor will still produce 600 ft/lbs of torque and with a fuel injection setup we have been talking about this will provide more low end grunt then most tires will be capable of handling.

The boss for the clutch linkage is there on the block just not drilled and tapped. Not really a big deal to due but we did discuss going hydraulic. Motor looks good and some of the "tin" came today as did the intake. Looking to seal up the motor soon.

I got notification from DVW that these should be arriving back here in PA very soon. Looking forward to seeing them in person. Scott did an excellent job with these wheels.

Now I need to locate a suitable rubber to put on them...any suggestions folks?

Thanks for all the help.

The centre caps are a nice touch, I would keep them. Beautiful work, just what I envisioned when you first showed them to us.

That will be a decision made a bit later down the road. Design concept is pretty well established but final color has not been.

I have located another set of Hurricane wheels, these are 8" though, and if I can lock them down I will have the same thing done to them as I have this 10" pair. That way I will have the option of 8" fronts, 10" backs if I want, or 10" all the way around.

It is good to have options.

Best regards,

David

Hi David, This Custom is really starting to take shape and will be a great looking fun & fast car. The wheels and engine look so good you could leave it in primer.
Trying to work on the custom and the Orange '72 Coupe, at the same time may be to much; even for you!
Have you given any thought to passing the '72 Coupe project on to another collector? That would certainly take some of the pressure off and you could devote full time to the Custom. Just a thought...

The thought has entered my mind for sure. Two at once was not my original plan at all, just turned out that way but you are correct in that it is turning out to be a bit too much to handle. I will definitely finish the 72 race replica but the Ontario coupe may have to move on to another. Only time will tell for sure. Good observation on your part though.

David

I landed a pair of Western Cyclone 15X8 wheels today and this set includes the original Western center caps. Will have them black powder coated just like the 15X10 wheels and then possibly use 8 inch up front, 10 in in the rear. Options are always a good thing.
I will get some pictures soon, haven't had time to unload them from my truck yet.

I also picked up the Hurst/Tremec TKO600 today and will post some pictures of that as well.

AND I brought home on the same trip a rebuilt 3.70 rear differential that is going to be used in the racer. Again pictures to follow but the parts accumulation is coming along nicely for the chassis build.

The 496 big block oil sump, oil pan, spark plugs, Edelbrock air gap intake manifold and all the gaskets have arrived now. I am awaiting receipt of the aluminum valve covers, water pump, and distributor to arrive later this week. Hope to have it buttoned up from the elements soon.

Yes, having fun with the road race replica for sure.

David

Were these sizes assuming all four are 15X10 or that the fronts would be 15X8? Just checking to make sure I understood the sizing suggestions.
Thank you.
