I wonder if those were my old wheels? I gave a set away to a guy at Carlisle a few years ago, didn't want to carry them home......Thought he said he was from the western Pa area, IIRC?
Keep the pictures coming!

David,
It's sounds like it's time for some vintage racing and this would be the perfect car.
Tribute paint call in the Mach 5.
John and I will be your pit crew
Marshal.

2022 C3 of the Year Finalist - Modified
Here's my take.
It's already a pretty nice custom, I'd shave the 2 extra central taillights and the mudflat on the back or the rear fender flare.
Then I'd probably put a ZL-1 hood, a front spoiler that blend into the front flare and graft a pair of 68-69 side gills.
Of course I'd leave the turbine wheel, but I admit I'm totally partial on this.
One day the custom gods will listen to me, and someone, somewhere will think about reproducing those rims in 17 or 18" flavor.

As for paint - go with the Michigan State green with a white stripe. It would really go well with that fine trailer

I feel like you bought the car I wanted when I started building mine 30+ years ago. I believe that body kit was around $2K back in the '80s and since I only paid $4,200 for my '72, it seemed kinda high.
Starting from the front, you need an aluminum bar grille like mine. I bought mine from Eckler's back in the early '80s. They don't list the part on their website or in their catalogs any more but you might get lucky if you contact them directly. It was meant to go in the grille opening on your car. I had to modify the stock opening and make my own brackets to achieve a look similar to your front end.
My receipt might help...
Once you go with the horizontal front grille, you might want to go with horizontal side vents. I hacked up my egg-crate side vents (literally with a hacksaw and jewelers files). Started with this...
...and ended up with this:
I like your rear spoiler. Mine needs a little more work because I started with a 3-piece from a Camaro. I also decided to build a center outlet exhaust (https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...t-exhaust.html).
I like the triple taillights. With the rear pan and license inset I think you're going to have to go with side pipes or 1974-82 mufflers (it would be a shame to cut up that rear pan to put '70-73 exhaust bezels in there).
Whatever you choose,

Well we pulled the trigger yesterday on this 1972 Coupe that has been, well, lets say slightly modified, and I am looking for ideas from forum members on what they think finishing this one out might look like in their eyes. All ideas are welcomed but don't be offended if I go a different direction please.
Large flare on the wheel wells, all four sides, to accommodate much wider tires and wheels.

I will probably swap out the L88 hood for a stock C-3 hood or maybe modify that stock C-3 hood I have to make a custom looking car. Ideas welcome.

This is a first for me, three lights on each side in the rear, need to research this a bit more but isn't this similar to a Mako Shark?

So please share your thoughts and ideas here, and thank you for helping me plan out this next build.

Just a quick update on the wheels. Tires removed and disposed of along with wheel weights and stems. Ready for the next phase, whatever that may be...

By the way, Sparty will be at MSU for the MSU/Oregon Football game this year. If you have time to come and see it the whole rig will be on display. FYI.

I swear to God, when I was just a little kid..... I saw a Michigan State Police "interceptor"..... a 69 Vette.... in the Mich. State Police Navy Blue, complete with stickers on the doors and light bar on top.... working out of the Clinton, MI post. I have NEVER been able to find any pictures of that car though.

You have a great start building a copy of Mike Yoshino's Corvette (although his is a '69).
I feel like you bought the car I wanted when I started building mine 30+ years ago. I believe that body kit was around $2K back in the '80s and since I only paid $4,200 for my '72, it seemed kinda high.
