Didn't last long. Maybe his wife let him keep it after all. Or - it sold.

Oh well.

Hope he sells it, but,
He is running the same ad again with the same confusing claim of being a real LT1, kind of the real deal but on a 71 instead of a 70.

I don't think you could build the same car for less money but that doesn't often matter. I'd be interested in seeing whether he gets bids. Could be an indication of what the market really is for non collectible Corvettes. Is there any real market for drivers? If people aren't willing to pay the price I'd guess they prefer to buy a vintage steel bodied muscle car or perhaps something modern? If the later, it would seem the current generation buying drivers has moved on.

That's probably just about right for this car
I'm curious what vin tag is on the a-pillar and how it got there?

Why would a run of the mill Corvette take such a big hit for NOM?
I can see if it was a rare car maybe, but I think you may be way off or nicely restored chrome bumper cars without the original motors are a steal at 80% off!

According to Hagerty, $65K is between a class 2 and class 1 car. It had better be in fantastic condition. I suppose some people do pay the price. A class 4 is listed around $23K. I personally think NOMs make great drivers but have been hammered so consistently and for so long by the numbers crowd many are afraid to touch one, probably prefer to buy a steel body car where the NOM may not have such a poor reputation. And we wonder why restamping services are being advertised? Anyway, if a buyer is looking for a driver it would appear a NOM in overall good to great condition would be a bargain, no risk of huge loss should the car be discovered to be a restamp, a minor accident, or market collapse tied to an economic collapse. In the case of the later I suspect a class 2 or class 1 car could lose more value than the entire cost of the NOM car.

If a buyer has money they are willing to risk, looking for possible long term growth in value, then a top shelf or rare numbers car makes more sense. The car being bought more for it's value than to drive.

It will be interesting to see whether this car listed on eBay gets any bids with the starting bid set that high. See if there are any buyers out there for NOM Corvettes. Ironically I suspect many would gladly pay the price for a Mustang, Camaro, Firebird NOM of that vintage. The NOM status not having such a poor reputation.
