I haven't seen any "before" pictures of this area that are as bad as mine is. I'm going to be embarrassed to post some pics but I started this thread. So let me get the camera and I'll be back.

By the way...you guys are blowing me away with some of your work!
Here is what is facing me. I can't wait to get started

I think you may need a hammer and a chisel to tame that beast
Good luck, and please post pics of your progress.

And FWIW... the toughest part is to get started.

Hey CFLVette,
Well done, Mate.
It looks terrific.

I just finished the firewall detailing on my '81. Some jackleg at the factory went crazy with the undercoating. I had at least a 1/2" buildup of that stuff at some places. What a job that was?

I spent the better part of yesterday cleaning out all of the 34 year old undercoat and seam sealer. I finally made some progress...

After

Thanks again for the inspiration, just when my TO DO LIST was getting shorter! I actually was thinking of cleaning it all up , putting some seam sealer where needed and then spraying it all with some of the FLEX SEAL stuff the guy on tv uses to stop leas in the screen door he bolted down to the bottom of his boat. I also plan on putting some better screen on top of the OEM ones in the corners. Need to keep the squrrels and the acorns out.

That's looking a LOT better.

The results make all the difference.

The trough cover is really only for cars 73 and up. If you have a wiper door it may not work unless you convert to a longer hood.

Corvette Central Part#:653013
Ecklers Part# A5300

Other vendors sell it too. Shop around for best price. Search for "wiper cover."

The source is in the attached thread...Ecklers appears to have the best price on it..

These are the kind of details that makes someone want to own your Vette! Not a bad thing when its time to sell.

I happen to come across this thread via a link from another thread and I have to say, I'm impressed as well as inspired.

Can I assume the consensus is that most used Dupli-Color truck bed-liner spray for the black coating?

Not sure if most used Dupli-Color truck bedliner spray, but FWIW that's what I used, and I'm super happy with the results.

Post some "before, during and after" pics of your car's wiper well. This is a fairly easy and affordable resto project, and the results can be very rewarding.

EZ Liner (what I used) or dupli-color bed liner (either available at CanadianTire in aerosol cans) are pretty much the same finish
