Default Third time's a charm..

Just joined the site today. Started out mistakenly in the C7 General section. Nice guys over there.. Appreciated the welcome. Then to Intro, and kindly advised to just come to C3.

I've owned this '68 for 40 years. Man alive, time goes by..

I love this car....

She is a beauty. I like the rims. I've been trying to envision my 68 with the same style. I see them on C2's and wondered how they looked on our models. You have taken very good care of her. Thanks for posting. It give something to look forward to.

Thanks for the compliments. This car has had a ton of different wheel and trim choices over the years. Stock silver rallies with correct caps and rings, full wheel covers, Tru Spoke wires, five spokes..and I like this combo of painted 8" rallies with '67 caps and 1930's style trim rings best of all. Easy to take care of while a little different at the same time. Lowering this car I think is what made the biggest difference. Almost 3" in front and 2" in the back. It's just a bit nose-down now, and I like that kind of stance.

Welcome.
Envious that you've had your car so long. I'm sure it is, and has been associated with you by friends and family for a major part of your life.
Beautiful '68 !

Hi o4e,
WELCOME!!!
WOW!
A 68, black black black, big block(?), convertible, with black-walls no less!
Well Done!
I'm thinking the hood opens and there's something nice under there? Hint!
Again, glad you're here.
Regards,
Alan

It's always the first question people ask..is it a big block car? Nah..this is just a base model '68. 300hp/327. I just really liked the look of the big block/LT1 hood. I justify it by saying..hey, the LT1 is a small block..then most people just roll their eyes..

When I first got the car it had an L88 hood on it. I heard (deservingly) the word "poseur" many times..but when you're a young 20 year old gear head with a newly purchased Corvette, I didn't care, because at the time I wasn't aware of the significance of what an L88 actually was. When I did understand, it came off.

Beautiful '68 !
You're right. The car has been the only constant in my life. Through all that one goes through to get to 60 years old, the Corvette went through it all. I sold everything I had to buy it (for $3,500) and drove it year round for the first five years I had it. I'd pull into gas stations when there was a foot of snow on the ground and got the most amazed looks from people who thought I was out of my mind. With studded snow tires, it actually pulled through the snow really well. Glady it survived and now gets nestled away in the sometimes harsh NW winters.

Thanks again for the warm welcome. I'll look forward to being a part of the community.

Welcome, Beautifull C3. Your thread reminds me why I can not consider selling my '72 convertable, Because I love it! Even after buying a '13 Grand Sport as a daily driver, I never get tired of the C3. You are in the right place to show that good looking vette off!
