Hi scf,
Almost all radios I see for sale have the caution that says "it worked when I took it out"…. to me this means "you're buying it "as is" ".
In my world that usually means it'll need some attention by someone who knows these old radios.
The radio is such a job to get in and out it would be nice to know what you have before you install it.
I'd have yours repaired.
Regards,
Alan

I'm one of the "it worked when I took it out" guys. I removed the radio in 2012 when I found the correct one for my 1970.

Otherwise, this guy does repairs and is where I found my 1970.

Hi,
I agree that Jerry at Electro Design is a very good choice.
He helped me with my 71 radio even when I was being pretty stupid about it.
It sounds like he's really busy so I don't know how long the wait for his service is now.
Regards,
Alan

I contacted Jerry a few wks ago. He replied and definitly does not do radios newer than 72. He says that there are tiny pieces in the newer radios that break a lot and either need to be repaired which takes 3 or 4 hrs to repair or get used ones which also takes time to get since it is now harder to get.

So he stopped doing 73 and up. Can't say as I blame him.
