76 tach problem

76 tach problem
the tach on my 76 just started to act up,when I am at idle the tach works fine,but when I drive it constantly fluctuates,would, a filter solve this or do I have other issues with it?

To bypass the filter.. unplug (at A) the filter and plug the tach wire directly into the coil.

I saw your other post about the filter.. adding one will not solve this problem.
pull the connector from the back of the tach and make sure the terminals are clean and making good contact. Do the same for the one at the distributor..
Make sure the wire from the distributor to the tach is in good working shape with no cuts or splices...
Test again. . . If you still have the problem th I'm guessing the board is the issue..
