Car is yellow,T tops, black interior small block paint is looks like a mirror, still has original tires on it, bumpers are cracked is this worth restoration or just fixing bumpers? Im a diesel truck guy but starting to fall in love with this vette!

I would be careful driving it with the original tires.

How long has it been sitting, give it a good once over before driving it, it could go but not stop.

Congrats onthe car and welcome to the group. Good to see another 75 back on the road.

I agree with others about tires and if the car has been sitting any length of time I would be checking the brakes and other safety items before driving. The brake calipers on these cars can have a tendency to start leaking if they sit unused to long.

If your dad's Vette still has Firestone 500's, I wouldn't drive it around the block. They have been known to explode and seperate the tread when stored in the spare tire compartment.

That being said, any other tires that are 30 or 40 years old should not be driven any faster than 30 mph while being driven directly on the way to the tire shop.

What has he been doing with it over the last few years? When we hear the word "Barn" associated with Corvette it brings up thoughts of it having been just parked several years which leads to a set of concerns due to that. Has he been driving it the whole time and it is just parked daily in a barn?

Pictures are important, history and recent activity as well as information on modifications are important to give you a direction.

Up to you. It's your car.

Congrats on the 75.

What else does Dad have in his barn?

Looking forward to the pics!

Before you do anything else, change the engine oil, filter and coolant. If it has original tires, I don't imagine it has been running for a while. Next is brakes. They will need work. After that is hoses. The rad hoses in particular will let you know that they're old

Replace the tires before actually driving it anywhere.

Congratulations

But, in reality what your dad gave you is a few years of hard work

It's all worth it though! !!

If it was given to you, then you're way ahead of the game. You can afford to fix it up and not be too far upside down.

after you get it running well with a full tune up and fluid change, first priority should be tires, then brakes, then suspension. I wouldn't drive it anywhere yet until I know for sure everything is safe.

Congrats on the car! I just came into the family '73 Vette and am looking forward to getting it streetable.
Things I am looking at are changing the oil and filter, air in tires, fresh gas and fuel filter, brake fluid swap, antifreeze swap, etc. Just some basics to make it somewhat safe before it gets a good going over.
