While I was under the car attaching a new rear emblem, I noticed two ground straps on the rear of the car. Both seem to be bolted to the frame, one goes to the antenna, the other is just hanging there, well it was wrapped around the other, but it is not connected to anything. I couldn't find it in the AIM, anyone know where it may attach to?
This is on the drivers side rear.

Nothing back there but the side and rear lights. Is it missing from one of them?

When we bought the car all the lights worked. I didn't test all the electronics though. I ran across this by accident, figured it must go somewhere. I've read SOME articles but still nothing that shows where they go. I'm thinking body mount?

I can't tell what's what from your pic but there are 2 ground wires at the frame in that area.
A plain wire that goes up to the light harness and a braided copper strap that goes to the power antenna body.
Is that a factory antenna? I see what looks like a universal mounting strap.

The wire from the lights AND the 2 braided straps are connected there, one strap does go to the antenna. The other is a mystery. I have no idea if it is the original antenna, when I was working on the interior I had questions about wires and one guy said I had a service replacement or something like that antenna, due to the extra wire I had and the timer that was in the car.

Anybody else on this? Could someone check their 79 and see if they have 2 ground straps in the drivers side rear corner ?

i checked my 79, one ground to the antenna and another ground to the lights. both are grounded at the same screw on the frame...

Thanks Speedreed, I must have an extra strap then. My lights are grounded at the same screw was the other strap that is connected to the antenna .
