Default Question on switches

Hi I'm new to the forum and owner ship I have a 79 vette. L-82. Been park in an airplane hanger for 20 years. I asked the owner about this he doesn't remember. There is a switch under the steering column, under the dash it pulls to the left what does it do, what is it suppose to do? I don't have the owner manual and have searched but have found no threads on this. ? Thanks for any help.

I believe your talking about the headlight vacuum override switch but a picture would be greatly appreciated. Welcome to the club you'll find a lot of help like I have.

Sorry I went to bed early last night. Override switch? What to close the lights?
Thanks for the reply.

You pull to open the headlights and push to close. It overrides the function on the headlight switch to either work on them without the lights on or when the regular light switch does not open them.
