Push it in from the front. Should snap right in.

Goes in easier if you turn it sideways first.

Really? I found an old Corvette Fever magazine article which showed how to replace the map pocket ball then in the article said clearly said replacing the drivers side would be MUCH harder. Then offered no instruction.

It really just pops in? That would be great.

Turn it mostly sideways so that the openings in the ball reduce its profile, then itjust pops right out. Does on my 72 anyhow.

I pulled my dash off last week. Mine has a 3 point bracket holding the ball in from the back. The front is way too tight to just pop it in.

Turn the ball so the vent openings are side-to-side; push it in the opening (it's pretty easy); turn it back to face the passenger.

I thought the same thing until I tried it. Worked, as advertised. How about yours?

I can not imagine any way that you could just pop in in from the front... even putting them in from the back side is difficult because of the 43 y/o brittle plastic retaining rings..

Good luck.

Just did this on drivers side last weekend. PO installed new ball and felt seals. Ball was so tight with new felt seals it could hardly be turned . Got it tuned so vents faced up and down and I was able to pull it out.
