Need help w/value of 75 Vette
Hello all,
This is my brother-in-laws car. He drives it once or twice a year. He has now decided to sell it. He does not know what to ask for the car though. What are your thoughts??
1975 Corvette Stingray. 350 w/ 4 speed manual transmission. 86,203 miles. Purchased 10 years ago. I have original owner's manual and service and overhaul manual. New trailing arms and rear rotors. Always stored inside. Needs paint and minor body work. Air conditioner needs new clutch. Aftermarket rear bumper (original was torn). Front nose has cracks. T-tops leak. Needs 1 muffler. Runs and drives but needs a tune-up. VIN 1Z37J5S405321.
Thanks in advance,
Dave

I see you are located in MN so check the car for rust in the birdcage and frame. Craigslist seems to have a number of cars similar to this and most are priced between 5-7K. The fact that it is a 4 speed is a plus. If it isn't rusty it looks like it could make someone a good project. Good luck with the sale.

Is the engine original? It would be interesting to see up close how much attention the body needs before paint- the front emblem is missing and filled in. The paint job could easily be more than the value of the car.
As blue said, rust could be a killer; needs to be looked at closely for that.
Whats the huge thing bolted to the passenger side of the shift console?

I agree with others at 5000 IF its a solid car with the original motor. The car dont look to bad at all. Pop the hood and it looks like its all there, not messed with. The interior looks decent also. Plus its a 4 speed car. By any chance can you prep and paint it yourself? That would save a fortune. Again, check this or any vette for rust. I looked at an original 77 2 weeks ago with a "solid" frame and this is what I find.

If the frame is truly good shape. Yes , it would make somebody a great introductory C3 old school corvette. The engine compartment looks totally stock ...4 spd is cool and uncommon that year... Most were auto.
Would be a cute ride with new paint and carpet and clean up the engine compartment .
Yeah it's worth 5K

That's a nice original car. Still has smog pump and original radio.
Nice color combo and rare 4 speed.
I would say for a guy that's looking for a nice original car that's not been rebuilt ten times over , it's worth at least 6k
That's pending a solid frame and bird cage. Plus no prior major body repair.
Plus no major prior collision damage.

You dont see many 75's with a 4 speed, but the body looks rough from the pics. The engine compartment looks original which is a plus.I think 5k would be a great buy for that 75.

There's a few issues with this car. First, it's a '75. Second, while the interior is decent, it does need some work. Whoever bolted that radio to the console should be shot. Third, the cost of a paint job will exceed the value of the car.

I'm with the rest. $5 to $6k. Although needing paint it looks pretty good otherwise.
Reminds me of a car I looked at for another forum member. The kick ups were so badly rusted that I was pretty sure the rear bumper hardware was holding it up. The seller was adamant that the frame was solid but he nearly passed out when I pulled out a screwdriver to check it. He practically threw me off his property
