Default Questions about Flaming River

Just bought a 69 vert and wanting to add a T&T steering column. Googling I found Flaming River T&T.

Anyone have any experience with them? Not worried about original since I will hold on to the Non-T&T one.

Your thoughts?

Default Is it collapsible?

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the FR tilt columns are non-collapsible and all C3s came with collapsible columns. You may be in breach of Federal safety standards if you replace a collapsible column with one that isn't.

Caveat Emptor.

Regards from Down Under.

I can understand pulling an AIR pump or getting rid of exhaust passages in an intake manifold, but this is a feature I'd pay attention to.

I prefer my steering wheels to remain separate from my sternum.

I do not know whether or not the FR columns collapse, but it's definitely something I'd find out before purchasing.

I have an "IDIDIT" tilt steering column in my '34 SBC truck....it's going on 6 years old/30,000 miles with no problems (manual steering--so it really gets a work-out!)

I've never heard/read about Flaming River having column defects/ problems.

Since I'm a rookie with my '68 project car, I now understand why members prefer tilt-columns.....at 5'9"/170lbs it's still a tight fit getting into the driver's seat with a non-tilt column.....can't imagine how the taller members manage it!

I hear you I'm 6'1" and 260lbs so go figure, I manage but much easier with the T&T.

I've driven a friend's 71 a few times with standard column. I put my right leg in on the other side of the wheel and then slide in. It's not the greatest. If I owned the car I'd likely switch for both a tilt column and a smaller wheel... but I should be grateful that he let me drive it (and I am).
