Default fuel issue

I am haveing a fuel issue with my 75. I am not getting fuel to the motor. I have checked the pump and working fine. I have also checked the filter in line and it is good. I have new fuel lines. So what could it be? Do I maybe have a bad sending unit? Someone please help..

Vented gas cap? If you remove the gas cap does it hiss upon opening? If the fuel return line was blocked or capped off from the vapor canister and it was vapor locking the fuel perhaps it could create too much pressure in the tank to feed fuel through the lines? Just throwing out ideas... Dunno much about the differences in the years yet...

You've lost me. You say the fuel pump is fine. If so, it must be pumping fuel to the carburetor.

The sending unit affects only the fuel gauge.

Here's the otherwise obvious bonehead question of the day: is there fuel in the tank?

Yea their is fuel in the tank. Gauge does not work either. Stuck at half tank. But when I disconnect line from in side of pump and put in bottle with gas it works and runs fine. Pump sucks fine. When I hook to filter the hose just wants to flatten but no fuel. Pickup hose in tank maybe?

Are you using the s-shaped hose from the frame to the pump? Sometimes when bulk fuel hose is used here, it can't properly make the bend and collapses. I guess maybe the sock on the sending unit could be clogged, but I doubt it...that would take a serious amount of debris to cause an almost total blockage. Have you inspected the rest of the fuel system that you can see?

I feel like a picture might be worth a thousand words.

I am not sure what u mean with s shaped hose. I recently bought the car. They said it needed fuel pump but after checking it seems to be fine. But all of the fuel lines in car have been replaced with bulk rubber hose. I have not pulled tank yet. I was trying to avoid it. But it seems that I may have too after all.

The rubber hoses that connect your metal lines to the fuel pump should look like these:

If you have bulk hose there, it is going to likely cause problems. Is the hose collapsing as soon as you install it, or does it collapse on start-up?

When you say all fuel lines are rubber, do you mean to say that even the lines to the tank are also rubber? They should be metal of course, except for the short sections shown above at the pump, and short sections at the tank.

Have you checked the sock on the pickup in the gas tank?

Wrong hose line used by bubba that collapses under pressure restricting fuel flow? There's definitely a. 'Blockage' from the pump to tank... Start there...

OK have s hoses. Not totally sure if in tact. Can not pull tank. Exhaust will not move without being cut. And when try to loosen nuts for tank brace bolts just spin. Thinking about getting electric gravity pump. To assist in flow. Good idea?

You said the pump was fine, so why replace it?

Have you tried to replace the line to the carb yet?

I think I have resolved problem. One of the s hoses on tank is broken I believe. Got bolts out and have to cut exhaust off unfortunately (ouch). But aftermarket exhaust made to exact size. No way to get it off otherwise. Will update tomorrow if that is the problem. Thank u for all the help guys.

As I mentioned in another thread when you remove the hose from the frame to the pump gas will pour out of that line untill the tank is empty. If you disconnect that line and get nothing something is wrong upstream from there.

Don't forget that if the tank in the '75 is original it is a rubber safety bladder type within a metal shroud (be careful), unique to the '75.

The S hoses are from the frame to the pump nothing to do with gas tank.
