Default replaced water pump now loud whinning

This weekend I replaced my old water pump which had started to show signs of failure (bearing play and noise) with a new Napa pump (TFW 43104). After getting everything back together and full of coolant, I started her up only to hear a loud whinning/whirring noise.

I can't think of what it could be. The clearance between the pump body and pulleys seems ok. All the pulleys and belts seem to be properly aligned.

I'm just looking for some possible ideas before I start to remove belts one at a time to isolate the problem. Could the new pump be faulty?

FYI, it's a stock 78 L82 with AC, smog, PS, and Alt (duh).

-Thanks

How much play is in the belts?
Where does the whine come from?

I'd say the standard 1/4" on the short spans and 1/2" on the long ones. It's hard to isolate the noise because its pretty loud, I didn't let it run long because it kind of freaked me out.

Did you add water pump lube when you filled it back up? I've always done that when I replaced the pump and never had a problem.
