68 Conv. Carpet sets are now perfect. :)
Below you'll see the pictures from our recent installation of a 68 conv carpet set.
A joint effort between Willcox and ACC has worked perfectly. The entire mold was changed and now this set fits perfect! Every part of the carpet returned to us was exactly as the original 68 carpet removed from this car.
Some neat notes about this early 68 car.
It is a second owner car with the Stevens logs still attached in some places. The carpet set was in great shape too.
The 1968 carpet set only had one small section of jute and it was on the vertical riser behind the seats. You can see a picture of this and all the original carpet pieces on our facebook page.
The 68 carpet did not have jute under the rear well humps or the front floor board. It did however have a nice thick mastic style deadener under the entire carpet set.
I've posted a few pics below, the entire picture set can be found on our Facebook page.

Hi W,
NICE!
But always a question…. you can see in the picture of the riser piece that it originally had no 'backing/coating' on the carpet as the rest of the pieces of carpet had.
I've alway thought that was because it didn't need to be 'formed' as the front pieces and wheel-well pieces did.
Does the new riser carpet have the coating?
Regards,
Alan
Here's a picture:
Original riser carpet back-side on the left. No coating.
Original remainder of carpet back-side in the center. Some coating.
Reproduction carpet, (AK), back-side on the right. Thick coating.

Alan-
I just went back out to the shop and looked at all the original sections.
The fronts, rear T section and the quarter well humps all have a different substance on them than the vertical riser. Odd... I didn't notice that at first. Why, I would have to stay it was a coating used for the molded sections of carpet just as you summarized.
The new carpet we installed all sections were coated the same. However, the new stuff being used seems to be completely flexible. We had no issue folding this part over the metal reinforcement panel.
The facebook page has some great pictures of all the original pieces as well as the deadner.
The stuff fit like a glove...

Hi Ernie,
Thanks for looking!
I so much wanted for there to be someone offering an uncoated piece of carpet for that riser.
Knowlegeable judges are now feeling the back of that piece to see if it's coated or not.
Is there NO END to this insanity???
Regards,
Alan

Rvzio- The ACC carpets are the best on the market at the moment. Plus we are working with them to make them even better. What year is your car?
Alan- Do you still have the original set? If so, please email me at Support@Willcoxcorvette.com

But.. If you have the original carpet I'd be interested in talking to you.
I'd love to borrow it.. and would gladly return it to you unmolested. Plus I can probably get you a free set of made correct carpet..

While I had this car, I pulled out the high quality camera and took some pics.. Look how nice and tight the hump area is on this set. The front floor boards fell in place. Also take a look at the facebook page that shows all the original sections in the removed condition. Notice how the flap is cut for the front of the seat tracks too.

As long as the foil barrier is not too thick you shouldn't have any issue. This carpet is made to the exact measurements as the original.
I know the ceramic style barriers are not an issue, they are 1/32" thick. http://willcoxcorvette.com/advanced_...heat%20barrier
