Appears to be the alarm switch for the hood.

This switch is causing me grief. When my hood is open and this switch is not depressed, my wipers work. When the hood is closed and this switch is pressed in, my wipers turn off.

Another forum post said to check the black ground cable/wire at my starter. I did, and It is installed correctly.

However, this under hood switch gets RED HOT when the hood is up and my wipers turn on. Just curious what would happen if I removed this switch completely.

Is there a way to bypass this switch altogether and have my wipers work properly again?

That switch gas nothing to do with wipers. It's the alarm tamper switch that sets the horn blaster off in your rear fender well.

I would unhook it . Trace the wiring from your wiper motor , to the wiper switch , to the fuse box....wipers don't require a working burglar alarm to work.

I think you ve been bubba 'd along the way.
