Hit by a Grama
Well I knew it was only a matter of time. At a 4 way stop sign we both stopped, I barely beat her. Look over make eye contact (I guess not) and start my turn. I am past probably about 60 degrees through my 90 degree turn when I look over and what do know. Grama is about 1 foot away and still accelerating (seeing an 83 year old gramas face right as she realizes shes about to hit you is truly a sight to behold). Clips my rear, didn't have time to accelerate or anything. I know people say time slows down when you are about to die and it definitely felt that way even though I was never really in danger. I am still baffled by how she didn't see me start turning. I was looking at her as she was looking in my direction watching me pull forward. After about 30 seconds of somewhat shock just sitting in the intersection, I came to my senses pulled to the side and was very kind to this grama. When I called the police and stated my name she became very shocked. After I hung up she told me "we have the same last name, File!!", "oh wow, whats your first name?" I said. "Mary" she responded. Now I became shocked because that is my actual gramas name. Mary File. Grace of God I suppose. Anyway damage isn't too bad, just body and the wheel is off center, but the rim itself looked alright besides maybe a scratch. Just wanted to share the story and make sure y'all keep your eyes peeled for grama's and don't take your eyes off once you spot them. Now time to find a good shop for repairs, yippy!! Also first wreck ever so I can check that off the list. Still waiting for my first ticket however.

So did it do any damage to her Lincoln town car?
Sorry it had to happen. Looks like it can all be repaired, but I know it is a hassle and takes you off the road for a while. Glad everyone is okay though.

Rear fender flares in your future? Lol. Sorry to see it bud. I've seen some amazing work at my local corvette shop... I'm sure the shop can take care of you...
Hope your insurance takes care of you ... I went through some hell a few years back with a 86 suburban monster truck that had lots of receipts... And got rear ended at 60 by another 4x4 truck.., I got royally screwed in the end ... No pun intended... Makes me wanna contact my insurance guy to make sure I have the 'Proper' full coverage on my vette in case the unthinkable happens...
Best of luck, keep us posted!

I had the misfortune of having the "Sun City" retirement community move into my town. Not all of them can be blamed for the accidents here. But things got a lot more dangerous in town since they got here. I try to cruise before they get up or after they go to sleep.

I agree with 'doorgunner' about the old people-a group I have joined!
But the fact of the matter is that almost all crashes involving seniors are minor fender benders-if you can call a damaged fender on your baby minor. Every day in Charlotte there is a news story about a younger, more alert driver that is critically injured or killed while speeding, DUI or texting.

Man that really blows!
I feel bad for you, wouldn't wish that on any Vette owner or anyone else for that matter. That is one of my worst fears before driving my new to me Vette.
Sorry to hear the news, but at least you're OK.

Hey hopefully someday we'll all be there. Some of us aren't all the far away in the grand scheme of things.
To the O/P sorry about the accident but in todays driving world it could have been anybody any age. There's way too many drivers out there that driving is secondary.
