1977 383 installed finally uploaded pics
So about a year and a half ago I started a 383 build for my 77. "Finished" (ok you are never actually finished, but it is road worthy again!) it about 6 months ago and never got around to posting anything. Still owe a thread for the whole build but here are some photos I took today. A couple of you may remember a few of the parts sitting under the hood!!! Thanks for those that helped me along the way, and a definite thanks to those who sold me parts at really good prices so I could finish it off.

Nice stinger hood. I wondered how one would look on my 77. Guess I'll need to save up now. Any more details on it's performance?

Just hit over 500 miles in it about a week ago, so have been driving it like a baby to break it all in good before getting on it. Did take the back roads home yesterday though, I haven't had it to the dyno yet so not sure on the real #'s I bought it as a short block with just the main and heads the numbers they claim were 450 HP 430 TQ pacmachineco.com (I don't recommend them, customer service sucks and they took 6 months longer to deliver than promised), I don't think it really is quite that high, but it does run like a bat out of he&& !!!!
Love the ATI street strip 400 Tranny, got it up to about 4500 RPM in first and hitting second is like a mule kicking you in the chest!!! Need bigger tires for more traction!!! She definitely runs like she looks.
Now to finish the interior, it is all still crap. But the bones are good and the drive train is awesome!!!!

It might fit with a drop base filter, Definitely will not with the airgap intake and a normal filter. Even with a drop base it is going to be really really close I would think. I was planning on doing the hood anyway so never really looked at the clearance with a drop base. Even with the stinger hood I had to cut the "tabs" off of the spanner nut that is holding the top of the air filter cover, they were just barely rubbing the hood.
Really awesome engine you got there too by the way!! Where did you get it from? or build it all up yourself?

I need to run the higher intake to get better intake runner alignment with the heads. The Holly and my custom drop aircleaner are as low as I think I can get it; fingers crossed. At least the 73 hood has a little extra height.
