LOL are those hood pins on the hinge end of the hood? some modeler knows nothing about their model.

Looks like that's what they figured out to hold the body to the chassis, not a choice if you are looking for correctness...

Thats exactly what it is. All real RC cars are like that. there's 2 more in the rear also.

Don't be hard on yourself, I thought they were hood pins too until I looked closer at the pictures and realized it's what held the body to the chassis...
