I haven't cleaned out his tray area yet but as I'm cleaning and painting the engine compartment I noticed where the wipers rest looks like something is missing. This is a 79.

Reinforcement plate. on the other side is a bracket setup that holds the master cylinder (booster etc) as well as part of the pedal assy. There are rivets on the firewall that help locate all of this but that plate the the bolts are kind of important...

Maybe your year is different, looks like only 2 bolts. Check you AIM, look in or around the section for the brake pedals

Thanks for the quick reply, is his something I can get from vendors or do I have to hunt one down from a parts car do you think?

Hard part would be finding it in their cat. if they did have it.
Maybe check with the cars being parted out in the parts section.

It's just a plate, nothing special if you have the resources you could make on up.

Are the 4 bolts out of yours or are any broken off?

The 4 bolts are out, none are broken, I'll look in the AIM to see if they have the size of the plate, figuring out bolt threads might be a challenge, but I can make a plate.

It doesn't look very thick maybe .040?

A Corvette salvage yard should have this - guessing it wouldn't be very expensive, as there might not be a lot of demand for it.

You can make one yourself just make a pattern off the imprint on your car and take the it to a metal shop and have them shear it out of .050 steel.
