I'm not certain there is an auxiliary fuse for the lighter.

Don't recall finding a fuse specifically for the lighter, but I can try to find it on my wiring diagram this evening if you don't get an answer first.

Does the lighter just not get hot, or have you checked to see that there is no power at the socket?
Welcome aboard and post up some pictures when you get a chance.

It doesn't get hot at all.what i was intending on using it for was to plug in like a gps or an iPod but i hot no power there.i formerly had an 87 model with the same issue and it was a blown fuse.any help is appreciated.i'll dig in and double check the connection.pics will be coming soon!

BTW, my lighter socket has power, but I've found it to be very finicky with accessory plugs. Every time I plug in the GPS, I have to find the "sweet spot" to get a good connection. Could just be some light surface corrosion on the old socket, haven't really looked into it.

I took a quick look at my diagram this morning, and it appears the lighter is on the same circuit as the two courtesy lights. Still not sure exactly which fuse it is, but that should at least help you troubleshoot it. I'll be spending some time in the garage tonight, I'll take another look and try to trace back to the fuse panel.

Lighter element could be burned out; power connection could be loose/dirty; ground may be bad.

Easiest thing to test. you should have power at the orange wire and ground at the black wire going to the lighter. if you do the socket is bad. if you don't, you have to verify where the open in the wiring is.
