I just got the maximizer side pipes. What hardware do I need to bolt the side pipes to the frame? Also should I use the exhaust gaskets provided or purchase a better set ?

This is the mounting hardware and I used Felpro gaskets that matched my exhaust port shape

So when you guys installed you pipes were you able to drop them from the top or come up from the bottom?

I installed mine from the bottom. I'm pretty sure they don't go in from the top.

On my 78, they had to come up from the bottom. Took a pretty good angle to get them up through, so the car had to be fairly high. Really "a piece of cake" and all went well. I have the OBX and they are working out real well.

I was reading a posts about the installation. I don't want to use the old bolts and some of the posts the guys used Allen head bots for the headers and some were using 12 points. On my 1975 two of the bolts are used to hold the ac compressor. Do i need to grind and the Ac compressor bracket or does the OBX and Maximizers have clearance typically? Also it looks like the bolt lengths need to be 1 inch with the thicker flange on the headers for all the rest of the 14 bolts.

Mine were installed from the bottom, as well. Georgiaboy's comment about having enough clearance was also true in my case.

Remember that any header installation usually involves header bolts that have smaller diameter heads. Since header tube diamter varies depending on your engines needs, you get a wide range of bolt heads and security devices to keep them in place. Length selection is also considered so choose accordingly.

I used 12 point ARP header bolts and as suggested, check tightness occasionally. They will vibrate loose, especially when new and going through several heat/cold cycles.

Your AC mounts may require grinding but check the manufacturers install sheet for instruction. No doubt, they've been there and done that.

Its time to give you all an update. I got the headers on and everything is good on the drivers side. No problems but the passenger side has been a lot of trouble. The pipes were not bent properly at the far cylinder and the second cylinder. The screws don't have a straight shot to the heads. They didn't indent the pipes properly and I don't want to try and crack the welds. So I can't do the spacers to the a/c bracket. I tried the headman bracket and the bolts don't align I guess because the thickness of the headers.

So what I'm thinking of next is to go with a shorter a/c compressor. I have the a6 the longer compressor. Is there a shorter one that doesn't have to bolt to the second and third header bolt holes? Can I use the same a/c hoses. Really need your guys help.
