Default To Valet or not to valet?

I don't particularly care for valet parking, and I really don't like that I would have to pay some stranger to drive my car. So I was thinking, how many of us Vette owners actually valet park with their vettes. I was watching an episode of Discovery's Airplane Repo show the other night, and a guy repo'd a newer Ferrari and all he did was walk up to the box with the keys and drive off. Have any of you encountered things like this? Is it that easy to have your car stolen when it is supposed to be under "careful" watch by them? I don't let just anybody ride in my vette, much less drive it. I know the C4 ZR1's had a valet key and detune set up with the car, but I am just curious if people actually used it and let strangers drive their vettes? My cousin used to be a valet guy, and I heard lots of stories (Which were cool as long as it wasn't my car at the time, but now I don't really find the stories funny anymore) which scares me. So do you valet or do not?

never have...never will

I doubt that many valet attendants know how to use a clutch

I can't imagine ever letting someone valet park my Vette, espeically considering in over 20 years of driving, I've never let anyone valet park a single vehicle I've owned.

Somehow I don't think the repo guy would have to steal the keys. If they don't hook to it I would think the loan company would have a key made from the vin.

No! Never have and never will, but then again I really don't go to the type of places that have valet parking.

I pee standing up.... so I have never used a valet to park any of my cars, and I never plan to.

No. And I never would let anyone else drive that car.
My other cars/trucks, yes, many times. It's kinda nice. But I just know what would happen when they turn the key and hear and feel that engine. They wouldn't be human if they didn't want to check it out.

At a Hotel I worked for in Nevada, the valets would race them (any car) on the 3rd floor underground. If they would not burn rubber someone would bounce on the rear bumper to break the tires loose.
Hope this helps.

A lot of nice restaurants only offer Valet parking, for example Canlis in Seattle. I've seen everything from a Lamborghini Muira to a Ferrari 458 get valet parked there. I've never taken my '71 there, but I would have no qualms about letting them park it.

Once I offered the keys to my '81 F250 4x4 to a valet, he just shook his head and pointed to a spot next to the dumpster. True story.

Let's see, how can I word this tastefully? Hmmm. I CAN'T. And besides, McDonald's doesn't offer valet parking, so not an issue.

Yes, i did it a few times in 75/76 because it was my driver.
Greek-town in Chicago, slipped the guy a ten spot and he would put the car up in front so i could see it from the restaurant.

I wouldnt have a problem with it. But I would not take my car to a place that had valet parking. I take it more on a weekend drive. If I am at a place that had valet parking, I would be there with my wife and would take one of my other cars.

At the casinos in Vegas I use the valets exclusively. They don't even hesitate when they tell me that it will be up front ... no moohla necessary ... must be my cool plates because it's usually parked next to a Ferrari, Lambo and others in that class. The other thing is sometimes those who are waiting for their vehicles walk over there to oogle my car and just ignore the others ... I'm walking out and see them over there and it leaves a big smile on my face.

They were after the guys yacht, but the bank said they would take his ferrari too if they could get it. They didn't go after it planning on taking it, it was just a side job.

I saw on the news years back a C5 Z06 owner was carjacked, but the guys couldn't drive the stick so they gave it back to them. After hearing that, it makes me think my 72 is a little safer from being stolen.
