Default Solvang or Bust....C3 cruise to Solvang, CA

pauldana is organizing another North/South Vette meet, so let's get a group together and meet up with the SoCal members! For those that have done this before, the plan will be similar to the last few times we've cruised south...I will post info on this thread as I get it, so all these TBD's will disappear shortly

Link to the main thread

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c3-g...-may-24th.html

The Plan:
Meet up in Dublin/Pleasanton on the morning of May 24th. Dublin is a convenient meeting point and crossroad for anyone traveling from the Central Valley, North and East Bay areas that all want to cruise together. Meeting point will be the Shell station on the SW corner of San Ramon Valley Blvd and Dublin Blvd. Easy access back to the freeway

The Time:
7:00AM in Dublin

The Route:
For those coming from the Sacramento area, meet up at the Chevron station at 4800 W Capitol Ave, just off I-80, 5:45-6:00am would be a good meet-up time

Start from Dublin, go south on 680 to 101.

First stop will be the San Jose meeting point, the Target parking lot at 3155 Silver Creek Rd in San Jose, just off East Capitol. The meeting time 7:45, south side of the store. This is the same place we met before heading out on the Big Sur run. Next stop will be at the Prunedale Chevron in Salinas, 8695 Prunedale North Rd, at the intersection of US 101 and SR 156. For those meeting us there, the meet time is 8:30. Maps, directions, and itinerary will be provided at that time, as well as a pre-cruise briefing.

At all times during the cruise, I would like to see one car in front with a radio(to keep contact with those behind) and one in back(in case anyone drops out due to mechanical issues etc.). I will probably be in neither position because I can't hear the radio with the car in motion, but I plan on having one anyway

Our next stop will be the Broadway Circle Cheveron in King City, 47 miles and 48 min away, although this stop may not be necessary if everyone tops off in Salinas(we'll discuss it in Salinas). I've already called the station, and they have the 91 octane fuel, air, water, snack area, and restrooms in working order.

Next stop is the San Anselmo Unocal in Atascadero, 59 min 62 miles further down the road

Last stop Solvang, 1 hr 24 mins and 82 miles

Pit stop locations/mileage/times compliments of Mapquest

When we get there:
We will meet up with Pauldana and the SoCal crew for an informal park & show and BS session in Solvang. Paul is familiar with Solvang and can direct us to any eateries in the area since most will be hungry by then

After the Meet:
Forum Member Bee Jay will be our host at his house in Lompoc....more info on the main thread
This would be a good time to check-in at the motel since it's on the way

Later that evening
Back to the motel. For those that want to do their own thing, go for it. There are several restaurants and bars in the Buellton area to keep people busy, plus the motel has a pool/spa/full bar so for those that would rather hang out in the motel

The way home
Two options...some may want to cruise up the coast, and some will want to jet on home. We'll discuss this in Solvang

What to bring:
Whatever you usually bring on a cruise. I always pack a tool bag, folding chairs and a few snacks, and don't forget an overnight bag if your staying the night. If you have a two-way radio, bring it. A radio can be a valuable thing to have especially if we get separated in an area where there is no cell service.

Motel Information:
Days Inn Buellton
114 E Hwy. 246
Buellton, CA
805-688-8448

It is the responsibility of each cruiser to make their own reservation!
Mention you're with the Corvette group and Tod Elliot's name(he set the motel up for us, thanks Tod!!)

Who's going so far:
1) 682XLR8 Randy
2) rkingce Robert & Annette
3) bitsa85 Steve
4) ACO'68 Art & Connie
5) 82C3&9C1nut
6) Jethro Bodine Marcus
7) ralphbf Ralph
8) 5angell Tony
9) Redheat Russell & Vicki

This is, of course, not limited to Northern CA (I know there are Forum members in Washington, Oregon, Nevada and beyond), but it IS limited to C3's.

Post up if you want to cruise!
PM for my cell#

We are anxious to go somewhere other than school and the grocery store with Cora, our C3. Here's hoping she'll be up to it, count us in. ~ Art & Connie

See you guys in Solvang.........

Probably make it a two day trip, last time there we stayed at the Day's Inn, in Lompoc. Very reasonable rates, but Riki and I are wanted by the pillow police there, so may have to find another place.

Was everyone that stayed happy with that place? If so I'll call them again and try to get a group rate going. You and Riki may have to go in disguise

I thought it was a really decent place for the money. Tod says it's kind of a rough neighborhood though.

Tod sent me a link to another motel in a much nicer area of Lompoc....if it looks like we find ourselves in that neck of the woods after the meet, then I'll check'um out

According to Tod, that was the one Bee Jay recommended....1621 N. H St. in Lompoc...I'd have to look at my thread from two years ago to see

*edit* This is the one, looks to be by the airport
