This is crazy! My fiance called this morning and told me and I thought he was pulling my leg. We have a plant tour booked this Friday. I just can't believe the museum is still open. Glad the 83 was saved.

Just saw a list of the affected cars.A nd I read on the net of the 83 which I don't remember. Sad thing to have happen to any of them but I agree that removing the 83 was a good idea since that one is irreplaceable.

There were about 80 or so pilot line 83s. None were sold to the public. All but one were supposed to have been destroyed. The 83 at the museum is supposed to be the only remaining 83.

This is so sad. Hope the museum is not built over a old coal mine.

Having been to the Museum, I have a real appreciation for it, and their recognition of the cars we love.
Sad.

Thank you Mike! And am I the only one who thinks the sinkhole happening right under the skydome is just a little odd?

I thought April Fool's came early when my daughter sent me the text message. I was devastated until I heard that the C3's were safe. Too bad about the '62 though.

This is cave country folks. Mammoth Cave and several smaller caverns are within a 30 or 40 mile radius of Bowling Green. Most of the underlying rock in this area is limestone and easily eroded away by water. Caves and sinkholes are common here.

I was just there a few months ago and I remember the cars that were reported as lost. Hopefully some of them can be recovered and repaired. It's a good thing the dome wasn't full of people and nobody got hurt!

Sinkholes can be caused by moving ground water, leaky water mains or sewer lines.

I guess they will try to recover the cars and repair them.
