Default Finished the refurb on the a/c

After much debate I restored the a/c using a pro 6 ten compressor (R134), and a new parallel flow condenser. I wrapped the compressor with a piece of aluminum to make it look more like an original A6. Sorry about the after pic. Not quite the quality.

Nice work! I like the clean original look of the engine bay.

Had me fooled, I thought they were the same cprsr. until I re-read your write up and took a closer look. Talented work.

Beautiful engine bay. I have a 1971 and was wondering what would be involved with keeping the old compressor sorry maybe shouldn't post question

Thanks for the compliments! Kendal as for keeping the original compressor that is not really a problem. You can still buy an A6 compressor and all of the original hoses and components. R12 is still available also, albeit quite expensive. The pro 6 ten compressor does not take the horsepower to drive it and I removed the POA valve and turned the system into a cycling system. I like the modern components and it still keeps a close to original look.

It looks to be a very clean installation. I'm on the fence too. A buddy at work did this with his 76. My 72 will be this or V.A.
