can we hear your exhaust please
Can you guys with up graded rear mufflers post a link to videos of your cars exhaust sound. Almost a year I bought covette central's true dual full exhaust system short headers to ex tip kit. Great kit looks good under the car perfect fit but at warm up idle my wifes prius is more audible than my 79. You can not hear the damn thing run at all. I am not looking for obnoxious loud sounds like **** car. I do how ever want a powerful sound that is enjoyable. I was thinking glass packs but I just think that will make it sound like every single idiot with a v8's pickup truck or camaro or caprice 4 door pos lol. Am I wrong do the corvettes sound good enough with the glass pack to go for it? Or is the flowmaster, borla, magnaflow end of things great if so which model or series I have a mostly stock 79 L48 thanks for.tue help sorry for the horid typos ect I hate my new samsung phone badly miss tue iphone

I know this is a C4 (85) but it is my buddies. It is essentially only an X pipe underneath.
Here is my 72, with an old Midas muffler system from the 70's.
This was just prior to parking the car in 2009/2010. It needed the motor rebuilt, lost compression, and spun a bearing. It has since been rebuilt, but slid off the road last month. Tomorrow she goes into "ICU" in DFW to see "the Doc". The front clip is damaged and stuff, frame is roughed up a bit but it is all fixable.

Also in giving credit where credit is due the guys at Midas in Mission Viejo are great people. Begining of this year I lost my car for about 4 months I sold it cheap to a forum member for $600!!! Family issues forced a sale this very minute and he just happened to be close. Well fast forward several months he calls me and asks if I want to help him work on his vert. I did an I also wanted my baby back he informed me that his friends at midas had it waiting on the exh kit b/c it had no exh what so ever. Mario sold me the car back for not a dime more than $600 and to.my surprise the guys at this shop.kept.my baby inside that hole time she was dirty but she was beautiful lol here she is being pulled out the shop after 6 months in a wharehouse
They did a great job installing my exh

Here is a link to my 70 LT1. This is a complete N-11 system from Corvette Central. It's 2.5 inch all the way.

I too got the CC Magnaflow system and installed it last year. I can only say that I love it. It's a great sound. I don't know why yours would be quiet. It's not real loud, but just a good rumble. My engine is a crate 350/330 from the PO so not bone stock. I will try to record a video...

My CC Magnaflow system was also disappointing to me. I chopped off the Magnaflows and put on Flowmaster supper 44s and I'm a little happier. I still think it is too quiet.
That being said, I think a lot of it has to do with your engine. a smogged down L48 isn't going to sound anything like a '70 LT-1 with the same exhaust.

Yeah I did not spend the extra $70 on the cc magnaflow kit I bought the cc kit 2.5inch with 50 state legal mufflers and 50 state means quite as a mouse plane and simple lol they look like pick up truck low audible help you pass smog mufflers I wish I would have bough the magnaflow kit. That is point for the thread though if I am gonna bother spending money to fix it what direction should I go an do.i need to add an x pipe or leave it true independent duals?

Thanks that is what I was looking for if anyone felt the need to make a change after purchasing a set they bought. Yeah I wondered about that smog engine too. Though I have already removed the air pump all equipment related to it and added short block hugger headers I have a oil leak at the cam shaft seal from front of engine sounds like perfect excuse for a bigger cam to go with new mufflers
anyways, I'll be doing the 5th an hopefully final exhaust setup on my car in the spring. I'm going to just weld up an exhaust myself this time.

I know this is not a Vette, but it is my chevy truck. V8, stock, factory exhaust except for the fact that I cut the original "bath tub" muffler out and welded up the longest Magnaflow glass pack. It is amazing, and it sounds natural. I love it…but the cops hate it.
Here is what it sounds like stock….very disappointing.
Here it is straight piped:
At idle, cold start essentially.
Not too long after I installed it.
Here is a true cold start.
Here it is in a garage:

A before and after muffler change.
It's straight dual exhaust.
I get no drone at all with flowmaster 40 series. They are loud though.

Nice, do you sell just the mufflers? I have new pipes from the manifolds back to about the cross member. The rest is older pipes and have lots of deep rust pits, and have OLD Midas mufflers. I am looking to upgrade soon.
Thanks,
Brandon

You know... I have the kits, and I'm sure I can get just the pipes from the cross member back, they are not on the site.
The 72 in the lower video is my own car... Yeah, I know.... no black 72's but that burnt orange factory color just wasn't working for me... beside I have this killer ghost flame on the hood too...
Anyway... the one in the lower video is with headers and the stage II system and there are actually two different design's. One is made from the 65-67 style pipes, one is made from the 1969 style pipe.
The 69 style has a bit of a throaty-ier sound to it (on the 72), and the 71 in the top video has the chambered system with the 65-67 style side pipes.
The kits are in the forum special price section and if you use the sale code you'll save an extra 10 percent off the prices but if you want just the cross member back you should give Mike a call tomorrow at 812-288-7103, I'm sure we can get you something. (you'll need to know the pipe size too)
http://willcoxcorvette.com/advanced_...ords=chambered Is the link should you want to look a a picture of the kits.

Ok, thanks. Tomorrow my 72 goes into "ICU" after I wrecked it last month to get fixed. It is getting all new paint, even though the car is 90 something % original…I figure if I had just the front repaired and painted the 40 year difference would stand out. So I will loose the original paint job. I won't be ready for the exhaust just yet, but as soon as my 72 gets back from the body shop I will be in the market then. I will know tomorrow what time frame I can expect to start on getting the new mufflers and pipes, brakes, and stuff.
