Telescoping magnet to pick up all the dropped tools and nuts/bolts that have fallen somewhere that can not be seen.

while my wallet may be the most used tool...
alcohol would be my second

funny you mentioned old tools, My elderly uncle just moved to a new place and no longer has a garage to work in really. he handed me down a lot of old hand tools. Loaded the back of my tahoe up!
Some I am still trying to figure out what they are for. old flat head tools I suppose.

I love old tools!

I think my most used "tool" is the AIM book. While its not really a hardware tool, its the item I use most in the garage.

Other than that it may be a pair of needle nose pliers. I use it to hold small parts in place to assemble, holding washers in place before putting the nut or bolt on, or taking off wires, grommets, bushings.

Cool I have about the same setup from Sears bought it back in the early 2000s under the Craftsman name brand but does not have the Penske name attached to it. My Ol'Man has the Penske same setup I melted the Plug Wire Inductive Timing Plug Wire Attachment when I used it on my 1972 El Camino one time and he was pissed but it still works He still has it from the 1980s

When I was ripping apart my chassis, lot's of beers help deaden the pain of my many bruised knuckles.

I really do miss the old oil cans. Just something about putting the old opener funnel on the can. really made you feel like you was doing something. I have always hated the plastic oil bottles.

Bill!

I don't think I explicitly understood your comment before, but I went to Sears yesterday to pick up a set of Craftsman crow foot wrenches and noticed the lack of "U.S.A." stamped into them. Turning the package over, there was that dreaded "C" word! I started grabbing other products - torque wrenches, ratchets, sockets... that "C" word is on everything.

I headed home and turned to ebay for an older set.

this is why it kills me when I loose or misplace an old familiar tool.

Working on them an oil change is like a 2 beer job ;o) Brake jobs 4 beer job and 2 cigars. Tune up 3 beer and a cigar job. I can judge a job by how many beers it takes to complete. Working on cars is relaxing to me and I enjoy my vices while doing it. Can opener is my Lighter to light my cigars and open the import beers.

Each to there own as I always say. Beer is an acquired taste that is thirst quenching on a hot summer evening in the Man Cave Garage. I would never work on my cars with a PBR than that would not go down well
Your my kind of guy, I can equate everything to the number of beers! Contemplating work on my cars = 2 beers! HAHA
