Thread started in C3 Gen today… he has the engine: (Posted by JackF)

Vette owners are a breed apart! Can anyone help this guy out?Found this ad on Craig's list. My kind of guy!

I checked the VIN against the C3 Registry and no matches there. Can anyone him help reunite the engine and car? It would make a great story!

Text of the add below:

1969 Corvette Conv. 427 435hp Monaco Orange - $1 (Boring,)

© craigslist - Map data © OpenStreetMap(google map)
1969 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible

VIN: 194679S712921
cylinders: 8 cylinders
drive: rwd
fuel: gas
odometer: 42000
paint color: orange
title status: parts only
transmission: manual
type: convertible

Please HELP! I am LOOKING for the CURRENT OWNER of this 69 Corvette, I have the ORIGINAL MOTOR for this Corvette. I owned this Corvette back in 1977, I removed the "original" 427 435hp engine back then and installed a small block 350 V8, I STILL have the ORIGINAL MOTOR for this car. Vehicle ID is 194679S712921 it was a Original Monaco Orange car with Black Interior and head rest seats, Factory Side Pipes and a White convertible top, Originally a 427-435hp Tri-power engine & 4 speed transmission. I sold the car back in 1977, it went to the vancouver wa. area for a few years and was then sold up to the SEATTLE Wa. area, that is ware I lost track of it. I checked with Washington State Police a few years back, they said it was NOT active in their "data base" BUT it could be in someones garage and not "currently" licensed and purged from the Washington State DMV system and or has left the state or gone up to Canada. ????? ANYWAY, I have the ORIGINAL ENGINE, If found, I want to either BUY the CAR BACK or SELL the ORIGINAL TRI-POWER 427-435hp ENGINE to the CURRENT OWNER. I do NOT wish to sell the engine to anyone else, sorry. If you own this 1969 corvette convertible or KNOW who does, please email or call show contact info
cell/Dave Thanks for reading my ad.

Best wishes,

Jack

The car still exists. It is listed in NMVTIS. $4.95 will get you the state that the car is currently registered in, but that is all they can / will provide.

Cost: $4.95 per VIN request.

There is no charge if no record is found.

Title History record is available.
Buy report for VIN 194679S712921 ($4.95).

I read this old post on the NCRS discussion board

I am looking for the present owner of a 1968 Corvette VIN 194678S419342. Car was sold in Charleston, SC in 1968. Was also in the PA area in 1969 and 1970. If you own this car and can prove it, I have a package that you will really treasure. I hope this car is still with us. Thanks!

The block was cast in Flint on 16th April, 1972 at around lunchtime.
The manual trans may also be the matching original (still to be confirmed).

It will be removed from the car in near future, would be great to make it available to return to the original owner if you know how I could find that out (I guess a long-shot)?

The engine runs great, also has LT1 valve covers and aftermarket headers, carby and intake.
Very early production 1973 Vette.

a request from a board I visit

I have a 69 350 Block that is for a Corvette and would love to see it get back to its original car if it still exists and the owner wants it. Otherwise it is just another 4 bolt main block to me. You have to be an NCRS member to post in the forums so if one of you guys wants to put it there I would appreciate it. The engine code is VO926HW and the partial vin is 19S703338 There is a vin in the C-3 registry that is close but not the exact one.

You can put my e-mail for contact enginerepairshop@gmail.com

Thanks,
Bill

I have a running 1969 Corvette engine with the following numbers:

casting number: "3932386" (1969 350 4-bolt main. large journal crank)

casting date: "K198" (Nov 19, 1968)
engine ID: "19S709819" (Chevrolet, 1969, St Louis assembly plant, Corvette, sequence #9,819)

block plate number: "VI120HY" (Flint engine assembly plant, assembled Nov 20, 1968, 1969 Corvette 350/300hp, 4bbl, manual transmission)

Perfect for the car with the matching VIN number. It would be one of the following VIN numbers:

194379S709819 (coupe)
194679S709819 (convertible)
