Default Danny Popp's 72'

Got this e-mail from Danny Popp. This is from last weekend at the LS Fest.

Some of you know, some of you may not, but we were fortunate, lucky and good enough even with parts breakage on two days to walk away with the overall Grand Champion award at the 2013 Holley LS Fest last weekend in Bowling Green Kentucky at Beech Bend Park. These stellar results are not possible without each and every one of you. This victory is as much your as it is mine and I am very appreciative of the support that all of you have given me. Thanks for ALL that YOU do !!

He sure did. Most of those other cars are using C5/6 front ends.

That is impressive. I know there is some serious competition and some very good drivers. The competition is fast and good and to do it with a C3 is a testiment to a good setup and good driver. I would love to go to this event someday.

Yeah, it was OK

Thanks again for the ride Danny, it was about time after all the riding and driving mine around....I think it's my turn to drive yours

A big CONGRATS on the win!! You certainly pushed through some adversity with the rear spindle drama but remained focused on the prize...a real testament to your competitive nature. I'll be looking for some auto-X touch up training once the Nova is completed!!

Again, a great win and just an awesome fast, loud and well driven C3!!

Rich, your Louisville region SCCA ran the event and myself with the assistance of Shawn Lambert did the course design for both the autocross and 3s challenges. I solicited your guys to run the event for Holley and FM3 marketing..

A great time was had by all !!

Excellent news and congratulations to Danny Popp on the win.

To date, I have been fortunate to run in 3 local AX events this season and have learned a lot about our C3s. This gives hope to continuing the legacy that these cars are bred to perform.

So now I'm confused... The article talks about the car having a carbed gen1 small block. But LS fest is only open to cars with LS motors. Was the motor swapped after the magazine article?

Yes, car was LS swapped in July just before the Columbus GG event. Car currently has destroked LS7 , 388 cu in, spec'd and assembled by my friends at Lingenfelter Performance Engineering. It fits me well as I am an engine speed junkie
