I just P.M.'d Lyle that I'm dropping out concerning buying his white convertible......
It (Lyle's Vette) was at the top of my list until the guy across town offered me his '68 hardtop.....again....the last "buyer" didn't get his car loan..... (not nearly as good as Lyle's.....but 1,000 miles closer to me)

Pics tomorow....I just took the '68 off the car trailer at 10p.m.

A/T needs to be eyeballed.....I didn't have time to check under the car since the repair shop was about to close for the day/I had to get the car on the trailer or it would sit there for another day.
Since the shifter was very stiff, I'm hoping for something simple....like the cable end is moving at the transmission/cable needs to be lubricated (even though the shifter was hard to move) the A/T actually worked and moved the car in all gears the day before...but because of 2 flat tires I didn't want to drive it around the lot.
Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd.....the ignition wiring under the dash is hacked up/the key-switch went bad so someone "hot-wired" it (snip/whack).
BUT...it's a low-cost repair...I bought what I could afford....and I don't charge for labor....LOL!
Now........where's my camera? I'm 'gonna go take some pics......

Well...that IS vintage 1985 dust all over the interior....but...Interior is 'gonna get "re-did"......good news is--all the panel-parts are in the car...somewhere.....
annnnnnnnnnnnnnnd.....to "TOP" it all off......the hardtop needs some new weatherproofing and a good paint buffing.............

I'll be busy next week......all the interior "stuff" is ordered/delivery middle of the week.....
It will go on jackstands this afternoon to:
correct that shift-cable problem.....check
change differential oil....check
change engine oil/filter....check
check exhaust system....check...as of 1/2/'14
BUT.........
In the meantime I'll put a new headliner in my '34 pickup.....(or it will be postponed....LOL)Un-check!

Our Friend the Rattle-Can...(keep in mind---it's not...no-way going to be a "show car"...it's 'gonna get driven!).....a quick $7 refresh with black paint on the headlight door until the car gets on the road.....
Time for a 130 amp alternator, new master cylinder cover, new wire loom(as soon as I reconnect the five cut wires)
annnnnnd the replacement driver's side doorglass came in this afternoon!

Don't forget to inquire about the 'frequent buyers' discount that some vendors have! For example Paragon Corvette has a 15% discount, if you buy $500 the first time and you keep ordering parts at least every thirty days. I shoulda dunnit, 8k later...
Good question....it looks like '74+ grills/'68 turn signals/'68 body/'80-something tail-light assembly...BUT....the title/VIN shows 1968...LOL.
Advise a Rookie.......What year does the front and the rear assemblies look like to you?

Thanks, but I (according to my wife) already have made all the major purchases .....LOL...it's just a matter of removing the interior/cleaning/refinishing OEM parts/installing new carpet-seat covers-console-etc. which I started doing today.....
Here's a pic of the re-finished dash (everything but the door panels has been refinished)........

just remember the swap meet at CTC, that's how I get a lot of cheaper parts and make new contacts when I have questions about stuff.

It was time to remove the driver's seat to re-do the wiring...........
Yes...it's true.....I Bubba'd the interior fiberglass with a few rttle-cans of primer....I've been working on metal-bodied cars too long.
I thought I'd clean up the 45 years of dust/french fries once I removed the old carpet and the original cut-up wiring harness.....I also installed the new fusebox/harness to the firewall......
The new daily driver front bumper resting on the driver's door....for lack of enrgy to hang everything on pegboards out of the way!
Poor poor center console had a rough life.........

I got another present at the front door--a slightly used license plate bezel.....
I managed to salvage the console with super glue to temporarily hold the broken pieces together....then I used epoxy to bond the pieces together...then some dye to renew the color....
I had to put a temp-patch on the tunnel by the shifter---and still have to drill out the outboard rear hold-down bolt on the passenger's side seat where the unpainted area is....
I had to take a break on the dash wiring.....sometimes the V.A. meds lock up the old brain and thinking 'kinda stalls out".

I could rent a trailer up there and H-h-h-h-aul the car back with the '36....but what kind of fun/challenge would that be ( you're dealing with a fool that had to throw wrenches out of his helicopter at the V.C/N.V.A. because his Guvment wouldn't supply him with enuff ammo or spare machine gun barrels )
Heh D.G. Thought you might be an old rotor head type. I was taught never fly anything in which the wings move faster than the fuselage, but after hauling back some of your 'P/U and delivery' results in my C-141, you guys got my respect. You were down and dirty while we stayed safe, most of the time. With your background, you should be able to take on any little Vette challenge. Hang tuff.
