You can see the Stingray heritage on the `14 plain as day. It's right there in front of the shifter. And if you stand in front facing the car and squint you'll see the fenders and hood look look exactly like my `76 Stingray.

I think the design team did a great job on the C7 both aesthetically and in performance. I had the opportunity to attend the seminar with the engineers at Carlisle and found it very informative. My heart is with the old cars but I have always had a newer Corvette for long trips and really enjoy them. I can't wait to see the Z car (s) when they come out

I agree with 540 vette. Hidden headlights and round tail lights. Hate the camaro back end.

The Corvette for me has always been about innovation, design, and looking towards the future when introduced. While it is great to give "nods" to the past, I don't think anything should be penalized because it is missing a certain piece of trim.

If I could afford or had the garage space for the new Vette, I would get one. That is one amazing machine for an incredible price. I think they did get the design right to inspire the next generation as well. And they are working hard to pass out the posters of the new one at shows for free for kids to put up on their walls and dream about.

Quite an accurate assessment....the C7 coupe looks like a totally different, brand new corvette generation; the convertible looks to me like a warmed over C6 in these comparison photos.

(PS, pointing out that convertibles generally sell for more than coupes doesn't mean I don't like coupes... of any vintage.)

Respectfully first time I saw it I thought a Pontiac Aztec had raped a Camaro and that was the spawn...
After time and some exposure.. it has grown to a point I don't throw up a little each and every time I see one..

My 20 yr old thinks it looks good so maybe that was the point ?

saw the new cars in person at cCarlisle show, they look much better in person I thought .

Sure a sight better looking than the two previous series

I suspect many a new C jive and sux. owner left feeling very jealous ....left wanting for the newest plastic fantastic.

Admittedly I have weird taste, as far as STYLING goes, love the C3, especially the 80-82. Love the C5 Z06, had one, love the C6 in general.
As far as the C7, like the convertible much better than the coupe, and I couldn't care less what the rear tailights looked like as long as they looked good...which they don't...to me.

Hats off to GM for creating a techno wonder. There's no doubt about that. The C7 is a Corvette for this generation, just as the C3 was a Corvette for my generation. Thirty years from now C7 owners will be dissing the C12 just like we're doing with the C7.

When the C3 came out, no car on the road looked like a C3. That's what set it apart and it's that styling that makes the C3 unique even to this day. The C7 looks like so many other sports coupes out on the road today. I can only truly tell if it's a Corvette when I can get a closer look at the hood emblem. I'm sure Bill Mitchell is having a good laugh right now.

What offends me is GM resurrecting the "Stingray" name. This car is not a "Stingray"; no how - no way. It's nothing more than a cheap marketing ploy by some GM suits. The car should have been given an identity of its own. It should have been called the 2014 Corvette "Manta Ray".

"Cuse me while I step off my soap box. Thanks guys.

I haven't yet had the opportunity to see one in person, but from photos I don't really care for the new look. An engineering marvel, but the look is too busy.

My training is as a designer (industrial design) and to me this car fits the current trend - what I call "over design" - the if a little is good more is better school of thought. I guess I am getting old, the new car seems to substitute video game sensability for a certain elegance in design that Corvette had for many generations. And am I the only one who thinks the new quarter window makes you immediately think Nissan 370Z?

Just my opinion, but the late C4 was the last really cohesive design that worked well as both a convertible and a coupe. The later convertibles lose something in proportion with the top up - but top down I think the C7 convertible is better than the coupe. Cutting off some of the design with the top seems to help.

But the masses will love it, and Chevrolet will sell it. And that's the name of the game.

I like the convertible . Tail lights are not the best, but I think the rear end could be helped a lot by painting the vents body color. It's not so much the tail lights, but the two upper vents that look odd to me. The black makes the lights look like they are drooping to me.

I tend to like this MUCH better.

The exhaust and rear diffuser would have been a big enough change for me personally.

Haven't weighed on this yet, but here are my thoughts. I think the designers hit it out of the park! You have to look at the current crop of high performance cars and the lines associated with the designs. The key it seems, is it has to be visually striking. If you're a car guy, you aren't not going to notice an Audi R8 or a Lotus Exige.

I wouldn't want the new C7 to be a continuation of the C6 or C5. It better look modern and it better look badass! I have both a C3 and C4, and while I like the lines on the C5-C6, they just look like a natural and progressive evolution of the 4th gen and to the average guy, they're not that hard to overlook, but the C7 definitely has that striking appearance, mentioned earlier and that's a good thing for the marque, because most of the younger crowd, likes it!
I'm still getting asked by coworkers and family members (because they know I'm a Corvette fanatic), if I've seen the new Corvette. They didn't ask me that, when the C5 or C6 came out...

Maybe the Camaro taillights are intended to distract us noticing from the C7's big flat ***. The back side looks like a billboard or something. The rest of the car is amazing, although I agree with Alan on the Boy Racer thing.

I like the C7 a lot. The body is overdone a bit but the C4-5-6 were so dull I was wanting them to try a little harder with styling. I like the Chevrolet taillights, and I think the more I hear people complain about them, the more I like them.

I'd seriously consider buying one. I like the coupe better.

C1's are in a class by themselves.
