What reason made you choose your C3 over other year C3's?

no computer, not expensive, convertible, 4 speed, in drivable shape, local.
didnt care about horsepower or color.
I ran a craigslist RSS feed for 6 months looking for a match. all of a sudden 3 came up in a week. I called all three and said I probably intended to buy that weekend. 2 couldnt or wouldnt meet. Luckily the 3rd was a keeper.
I started with my 96, built and drove it for a few years, wanted a real topless car so I found the 75. I'll fix her up on the way to trading/selling to find that perfect 70 model.

Was after a restoration project, ideally a chrome bumper car. Saw the 74, and although it was a rubber bumper car, it was a convertible, and they aren't common here in New Zealand, especially that year. And that it came from Nevada didn't hurt either. Learned a lot along the way! Soon time for another one!

I bought what I could afford, which was a bright red `76 in really nice shape with a 300 HP crate engine, a rock solid automatic and no mechanical issues except a small leak from the trans. Could use paint to be perfect but the way it looks now is certainly acceptable. If money were no object I would give the `76 to my son and buy a bright red 1969 427 4 speed roadster with black interior. PS/PB for sure and PW/AC if possible.

I guess the draw of having a 25th anniversary and a 50th drew me too it. the price was right and now that I have invested my heart and soul into it its gotta stay

I have a 1970 which was the best year for the LT-1 as the HP was rated at 370. I was looking for either a 69 427/435 or a 70 LT-1. I found this silver LT-1 which is my favorite color and is quite rare. As far as why a C3, I came of age in the early 70s and the C3 was the grooviest car I had ever seen. As a side note, I thought the C2 was the second best car I had ever seen and I am lucky enough to have both!

1980
I was born in 1980 so I started looking there. That is the last year the Corvette had a carb without electronics. I remember my dad working on carburetors when I was a kid and I thought it was nearly magic. Plus, they don't cost a lot if you are looking to mod it for more performance.

I never really noticed them till they became more modern looking via the resilient bumper.i thought the chrome bumpered cars looked old fashioned so I to was lucky that my dream car could be had for less $.

Chose my '80 L48 because:
1. 3-year old quality paint job
2. Body style from my high-school years (1978-82)
3. Price
4. Wife liked it
5. Last pre-computer vette

On a Sunday in 1977 I told my Dad "I want a Corvette". He said "Then you should by one, in fact I know a guy at work who is selling one." I bought the car the following Wednesday a 70' Roadster - base model and I have it today. Thanks Dad.

My first Corvette was a ’69 350/350 4 speed white with red interior convertible I purchased it new in ’69. I traded in a 67 GTO with Ram Air (one of approximately 80 which I found out later on). I liked the look of the early C3’s so much I have owned 12 different ones all ’69 to ‘72’s prior to current project. I had two ‘65 back in the early 80’s The last Corvette prior to current project was a new 2008 Z06 wonderful car but nothing I really could or needed to work on. My current project for the last two years is a ’68 L71 white convertible. Current project is a frame off restoration that is on the road now in primer and will be painted this winter.

I have admit is was an impulse purchase.
In 85' I had sold a rather annoying Datsun 280ZX a few months before, and was tired of going on dates in my truck (I was 21). A friend of mine owned a Corvette body shop and had just finished a 78' for a customer. Updated to glass 80-82' bumpers, de-seamed, mile deep red lacquer. The customer found a 67' he wanted to do, and needed this car to go away.
I walked in about an hour after the customer called and said sell it - it looked beautiful under the shop lights - and by 10am the next day it was mine. Seemed like a good idea at the time.
Still have it . . . . although its apart for a better than it ever was makeover. A possible job change may put it on the back burner for a few years (again!) so I am thinking about a C4 (!) I can play with in the meantime.
The Red car will be with me forever. (although I don't think it will be red this time)

My first Vette was a '67 many years ago and I've been through a numbet of hot rods since. I wanted to stay away from all the computer controlled stuff and go old school. I didn't have any particular year C3 in mind, in fact I almost bought a '79 that fell through. Then I discovered my '76 in a storage building right here in my own town. It was offered for a price I couldn't turn down so, here we go!!
