Anybody Name Their Vette?
I just got a beautiful 1981 that I bought here on the forum. New Pace Performance 350/330, 4 speed, beautiful black leather interior and new carpet, polished alloys with spinners. The color is GM Medium Garnet Red Metallic - the same color as Florida State's color (I'm Tallahassee born and class of '71).
I named him Renegade (the Appaloosa that carries Chief Osceola).

96 black vette was raven
75 is Silverfish, as much a nod to a Tanya Donnely song as the obvious one
my Tahoe quickly gained the name Taco, not very original but they are what comes to mind when I find the car.

My is named
I don't normally name cars but I named my 69 427 convertible, "Brutus."
Loud, strong, obnoxious ...just seemed like Brutus to me.
My restoration has been one extra expense after another (no real surprise there), but a friend asked if that's why I named it Brutus - keeps stabbing me in the back!

Carlisle 2008, I was in the market for a C3 thinking I was there to mostly do some market research, not really expecting to buy one. I had my kids with me, 12 year old daughter and 10 year old son. They were very into the hunt for cars that Daddy liked, and asked me for the name of the colors for each of the cars they really liked. At lunch time, I realized that they were using the color names as names for the cars, talking about how much they liked "Steel Cities Grey" because it was a convertible, but that "War Bonnet Yellow" looked practically new etc.
To make a long story short, "Bridgehampton Blue" lives in our house now.

My wife has asked me the same thing and every car I have owned has had the same name. At least its the name I use when I'm talking to my wife, for example "lets go for a cruise in Jezebel" (heard it in a movie a long time ago)
I don't really refer to my car by name but she thinks I do and thinks I'm weird for doing it, and for using one name for all my cars.

That made me laugh for some reason- and not at your Vette, which I've always liked. Probably the old fashioned name.
There's a name that makes sense to me. I never could understand assigning a female name or personality, such as calling it "her" or "she", to a fast car. The closest I've come to naming my '69 is simply calling it "The Beast".

paul 74- That's Funny.
My Grandmothers name was Maggie GERTRUDE !!!!
and I refer to the wife's Mitsubitchy Lancer as "GERTY GROWLER"
from the 60's cartoon TOM SLICK (that's giving away my age).
My 74 is MIRCALLA.
Named after the Vampire Mircalla Karnstein. V~~V
That was gonna be our daughter's name but we had a son (I hung up my "guns" after him).
The wife decided on the name the day we bought her and she's
(the car) has been draining the life(and money) outta me since.
Cheers,
Gav
I also named a friends VW Golf "The Frau" (from Austin Powers)
and that name has stuck.

I guess my wife calls it " when its going to be done" Cause i know exactly which car she is talking about when she says it.
I call it one of the following :
Pain in my azz
Pain in my f@cking azz
college fund, when the kids are around.
and when everything is working " my vette " or "the vette"
