Default 1969 Driver Side Wheelhouse Interior Panel Help - threaded insert repair kit?

My threaded inserts are missing, anyone make a repair kit for this? should I open it up, epoxy nuts into it?

I appreciate any help, also would buy a good used panel if anyone has one with ALL 4 threaded inserts intact and threads that are perfect.

Thanks, Tim

Yeap.. and usually when they are missing they take some meat out with them. Good epoxy will cure that when you put the new insert in there.

Personally.. as I did with my own cars.. I'd fix them.. or try to find one like you said.. used.... The good reproductions are way expensive and the hard plastic ones fit but loose the luster by being hard plastic... Generic if you asked me.

You guys are talking these correct?

If so, how do you get the old ones out?
and are the new ones in the kit brass, and do they still rust?

I have not been able to get the other side off yet. I have to drill out 2 of the screws and would love to know I can fix these before I drill it out.

mine were missing, once kit comes I will drill them to accept the new inserts then epoxy them in place with Devcon Plastic Welder which works unreal on fiberglass/plastic interior panels

Holy Crap Wilcox !!!!

$23.87 to ship a small pack of screws to Canada?
I paid less for an entire Parking Brake console.

And you said you USPS calculator was fixed on your home page.

Had to fix one or two in mine as well. I used threaded inserts - something like these

Bought them at my local Ace Hardware - less than $1 IIRC

Eljay, we are talking about the screws that hold the inner rear quarter panel. To get that panel off you have to remove the trim plate that is inside the door jamb. Problem is these screws rust and won't come out, you have to drill the heads off to remove the inner panel (see my pictures above, my car is purple, the existing screw was painted to match the door jamb).

Rather than spend 50.00 for 8 screws and nuts, I am headed to my local hardware store at lunch to pick up an GraBit set to remove the broken screws myself. If this doesn't work, there is a local supplier for the parts 70BBvert posted for $17.00.

Just a bit of advice to all, I am installing ALL my screws with anti-seize to ensure this never happens again.

yeah I could have got inserts and made them, but I like how these inserts have a bottom so that epoxy wont ooze in when I glue them in place, plus have the rough edge on outside to help them bite and will be the correct overall height, to me worth the 29 bucks...and 8 bucks to ship...as far as I know, when you order from Willcox their automated shipping on the website is way off and they correct for it and credit you back, my shipping was going to be like $15, turned out to be $7.95

The ones I used were brass & threaded into the plastic. No epoxy needed. I used stainless steel screws with anti-sieze. Shouldn't give me any trouble
