Default door slis wont stay on !!

I went ot go replace all the old hardware for this door sil but what I realized is ... its impossible. #10 screws are just too small and #12 screws are way too big ! someone help me out, are theyre any tricks to make the #10 screw bigger? or something? my door cant shut anymore because of this. or maybe is there an easy way to retap this so it wont crack the fiberglass ? like a hand tool

You can use plastic drywall screw anchors in the original holes in the fiberglass sills.

Hi '69
I haven't used one in a while but there is an aluminum nut that is used in a pop rivet gun. They come in several sizes. You then have to buy a screw with threads to match the nut. I think I remember using them on the rocker panels.

You say a #12 screw is way too big. In what way are they too big? Is it by chance the head (only) that's too big? FWIW and if it helps, know that a good specialty fastener/hardware supplier will be able to sell you #12 screws that have #10 heads. I've had success with this for the occasions I needed during my restoration.

Hope this helps...

I too have used Rival-nut tool. Works great and no more stripped holes in the future.
