Trailing Arms what a PITA!!!!
Now I feel I have been fully initiated into C3 ownership. Thanks to lots of insight, tips, directions, driveway space and tools from sgm2004, I successfully replaced my drivers side trailing arm.
I now have more appreciation for "do it yourselfers", with sgm2004 helping me out I probably saved at least $1000.00 on the repair and finally got to get dirty and turn some wrenches.
I am glad it is over though.....holy cow.

Isn't it fun. I got lucky and it took my brother, nephew and myself only 2.5 to 3 hours and we had everything out, trailing arms, differential, shocks etc. Can't wait to get it all back in, waiting for new gears in diff, so I can start driving it again. Keep enjoyng life.

Wow, another one that didn't have fun.
Did it myself too and yes, I sat and invented some new words by putting a bunch of words I rarely use together. I think I even recited George Carlin's "7 words you can't say on TV" a few times. That's my favorite when I'm having an extra special time in the garage.

When I get into some work like that I usually scrap my hand on the ground to get a few cuts and a little blood going. It´s going to happen so I just get it over with.

Just starting the process myself on my 80. I have everything refreshed/rebuilt/new to go back in. Waiting for penetrating oil to work on the trailing arm bolts a little first. Both completely rebuilt arms, drilled rotors, brake lines, shocks, half shafts with new u-joints, fresh diff on a spare batwing, all new bushings/bolts/clips/cables/etc. for it all sitting on the garage floor just waiting to be installed. Anxious to start and dreading it at the same time.
And I already drew first blood when my ratchet slipped while tightening the last bolt installing the differential on the batwing. Should have gotten stitches...

You don´t need stitches, masking tape or black tape and some paper towels. Works every time. And if it´s bad...duct tape.

LOL....well sgm2004 did both of his by himself, so he knew everything that needed to be done, he was quite amazed how much faster we finished mine. I spent the whole time on the ground or crawler, just a floor jack and a few jack stands in the driveway.
There was a real sense of accomplishment, a little blood but nothing band aid worthy.
I will tell you this, I wear a shirt and tie to work every day. I got home from pulling everything off, I was covered in blast off, rust, brake fluid, ect......my wife was SUPER turned on....I was quite surprised.
She posted something on facebook like "My suit and tie husband just came home DIRTY....YUM!" LOL..... I would have thought my wife wouldn't want to see me all greasy and nasty.

And then, when you think it can't get any more frustrating, you spill your beer.
