Why would you do something yourself when you can pay someone to do it for you?

If you had a child, would you feed it generic or low quality food just to save money? Why do that with your car? You probably spend more than that difference on specialty coffees in one month....
I have a 529 plan for my car. Hoping for Harvard.

oh, and I can reach my drain plug under my vette without putting it on stands or jacks, but I generally do put it up to change the oil. If I was in your shoes I would try the syphon trick described above. It would get messy to unscrew the drain plug and try to drain 1/4 quart out, then tighten the plug.... very messy!

thanks for the great replys everyone . Turns out that I need a couple of small maintenance issues handled (this being one of them) and I am bringing the car in next saturday . I will let the shop know my concern and have them adjust the oil level accordingly . I figure its an easy fix so why not just do it .

NAPA 1794 used to fit until I got a 2.5" exhaust.
Also, one of those marinade injecting syringes makes for a good oil remover.

My question is did they put the zinc additive in, if they just put regular oil in then you are going to wipe a lobe... Just a thought

Just checked mine and I'll have the same problem until I rework the exhaust.
